1954 Chevrolet Other Howe streamline body Additional Info:
This truck was built by Howe Fire Equipment as a pumper truck, and spent its working years in a very small town in central southern Montana. (It can be found on google by searching 1954 Chevrolet Howe fire truck.) It was decommissioned as a fire vehicle and its fire fighting equipment removed. It is rust free, rock solid and drives like it has only 5,992 original miles. Starts via a 'stomp' starter immediately, drives and shifts and stops well. Faults: small damage to drivers side on hood nose. Cracked drivers side window. Headlight bright/dim switch works on only one setting. Some minor paint failing on top of cab. The intent was and is to preserve an excellent original truck and do a minimum of work. The original red paint had significant overspray, so some areas (esp under hood) got more paintwork than I would have liked. Widow maker wheels removed, replaced with modern 19" tubeless wheels and tires. New plank bed. Original body holes filled with brass screws, not filled w/ plastic filler.
