Here is a 1947 1/2 ton Chevrolet pickup up for auction. This truck is a great survivor!! It's straight, pretty solid and has awesome original patina. The engine is a factory 216 inline six cylinder that is mostly complete and manually rolls over. Backed by a 3 spd manual transmission, looks to be original rear end and it has a rolling chassis.Here are some of the things I noticed while taking the pictures so you can have a better idea as to what you are bidding on. The front grill has a bent bar, a small dent on RH side of hood, very minimal rust on the passenger side, there is a 6 in. tare on the front side of the back wheel well. The passenger door does not open, I think it may be locked and the pass door window is spider webbed. Drivers side, there are a couple extra holes by the rear view mirror and a small dent on the front wheel well. There is some rust on the kick panel, cab corner and a hole on the splash apron to the running board from a smoke stack back in the day. The box is in overall good shape. The rails for the wood bed are pretty shot but the box sides and fenders a very decent. The original tail gate is on and in working condition. The hood springs are good and held the hood in place with no problem and opened and closed good. The floor pan inside is in very good shape, I was pleasantly surprised on how good it looked. The windows are OK besides the passenger door that I had mentioned.
This 71 year old truck (in my opinion) is in better shape than a lot of other barn fresh or field trucks that I have seen. Would make a GREAT RAT ROD or could even be a daily driver. I think it would look pretty damn cool going down the road looking the way it is. Some people pay good money for patina and on this pickup you couldn't get more original. Whatever your plans would be you have a decent truck to start with.
