1955 Chevrolet Bel Air/150/210 Additional Info:
Up for Auction is my dad's 55 chevy belair 4 door custom station wagon. My dad and I were building this car together for years. It is so close to being finished but he is retiring and moving away, So this is a dream that just isn't going to happen for us. We are offering this car for sale for someone else to finish. Everything that has been done to this point has been done correctly and professionally. I build hot rods and custom cars for a living, Most of the work that was done on the car was done at the shop I work at which is well known for award winning body and paint work. This car started as a near completely rust free body from California. It still retains all of its original panels including all of the floors! This car was in amazing original condition when we found it. It was then stripped to the bare metal and the work started from there. The 2 biggest custom changes I did was change the 2 rear doors to modified 4 door sedan doors so the side profile has that cool little "dip" below the window. Which is also necessary to use the belair car side trim. We wanted to two tone this car like a regular 55 chevy car. I have included a photo of the rendering we had done to show you what we planned on the car to look like. The red color is 2003 50th Aniversery Corvette red. And the cream color was going to be original 55 chevy Shoreline Beige. The firewall and engine have already been painted in the red color. The other big change I did was swap out the 2 piece rear tailgate for a one piece 55 sedan delivery door. It also has custom stainless gas struts that pick it up and hold it up. The engine is a 350 small block. I had this engine in another car I had. It ran great, I had it checked out by an engine builder, He put a new oil pump in it and all new gaskets. It didn't need anything else. The transmission is a Muncie 4 speed and the rear is the original freshened up with 3:50 gears and we added a posi unit. The car has all new suspension with dropped spindles, Dropped coil springs in the front and dropped leafs in the rear. The car also has CPP 4 wheel disc brakes. Also all new stainless brake lines and fuel line have already been installed. The original frame is in excellent condition. It's nice and smooth. We disassembled it and had it blasted and powder coated semi gloss black. We have all new chrome for the car as well as all the stainless trim. We also have a complete custom Ciadella interior for the car. Which includes the complete assembled door panels with the molded belair armrests and all new stainless trim. The interior also features very expensive German square weave custom carpet. The interior was over $6,000 alone! It is very nice and made from very high end materials. We had it made in the original 55 convertible style but made for this wagon. We also have most everything to finish this car. Too much stuff to list, But there is a new Ididit tilt column, A complete new modern guage cluster from New Vintage. It looks like original but has all modern gauges in it, Also a complete replacement modern wire harness built specifically for this car by American Autowire. I could go on and on about this car. It has been in the build process for about 6 years and has been a labor of love. We never had any intentions on selling it. This is a great opportunity to finish this very unique 55 chevy wagon.
