We won't blame you if you skip ahead and just call us now, but everyone else can continue to read the rest of the details on this cool Chevelle SS Tribute coupe. There are just some of us who can't get enough of the flying buttress design of this pillar-less hardtop Chevelle. It gave these classics an instant upper-class image. And that gets amplified on a maroon coupe like this. After all, it has the same glossy appeal of red,... but with a deeper and more sophisticated tone. The maroon is also the perfect halfway point between the darker elements and the bright work. So not only does it make the SS-style rear panel stand out, but also the form-fitting chrome bumpers and the bright grille. This one takes its Super Sport upgrade quite seriously with all the right element, including the power bulges in the hood, ribbed rocker panels, correct badging, and iconic Rally wheels. Inside, the black interior looks great against the maroon accents that have been painted to match the exterior. It all has a fantastic and fresh presentation because the color was expertly changed to this sportier black later in life. While the hardtop has plenty of room to carry family and friends, this Chevelle is a true driver's machine. The thin and grippy SS three-spoke steering wheel feels great in your hands. This also gives you a clear view at the ultra-wide speedometer and auxiliary gauges to the lower right. All these readouts are a sign there's something special in the engine bay even before you twist the key and hear it roar. Lift the hood and see the best upgrade of them all. If you paid close attention to the badges on the car, you will find out that they were not lying about the upgrade. This is a 427 cubic-inch big block V8 borrowed from a '69 Chevy. More than just added displacement over the '67 Super Sports, this one has been given go-fast goodies like a large 750 CFM four-barrel carburetor, Weiand intake, MSD ignition, and long tube headers. This was a thoughtful build, so while the rumbling dual exhaust tells the world this is a mean machine, the aluminum radiator quietly keeps the big power package cool. Also, features like the three-speed automatic transmission, power steering, and power brakes make this a great anytime driving classic. Complete with owner's manual, this is an intimidating big block coupe that has the exact right stance and sound everyone loves. So we know when it looks this good, it won't last long in our showroom.
