This 1980 Camaro Z28 is in great original, unrestored condition. It’s a 350 car with T-tops, factory AC and 54,000 original miles. It starts, idles, runs and drives great, with great tires and brakes. The only mechanical-related item to address is the power steering. The assist goes away soon after the car warms up. There’s a new, ACDelco replacement power steering pump that will go with the sale of the car.
The 350 engine fires right up and idles great with the Quadrajet carburetor. Engine doesn’t smoke. Does it drop any oil? Yup. It’s a 38-year-old Small Block that doesn’t appear to have ever been out of the car, so it drips a little oil when sitting. All of the Air Induction equipment is intact and works. Also: The mufflers and tailpipes were replaced about 4 years ago.
The body is in great original condition and there doesn’t appear to be any paintwork done to it. That said, it’s a 38-year-old original paint job. There are some nicks and rock chips here and there and two small creases on the right-side rear quarter panel. Part of one of the Z28 stripes is also missing on the passenger side. It shows very well, but be aware that it’s not a concours-quality paint job. It’s in original, unrestored condition. The car also wears the black N90-code aluminum wheels.
As for rust, there’s a small spot on the roof, near the driver-side T-top panel. And on the bottoms of the front fenders, where they roll under the body, there is some surface rust where some paint has chipped off. Everything else, from the rear quarters to the area around the rear window, is in great shape.
The interior is in excellent condition, down to the original AM/FM radio. The black upholstery is in excellent condition, too. Everything works except the clock. Original owner manual in the glovebox, too. The front passenger seat belt buckle needs attention. The top part, around the button, has come lose, which can make it tricky to latch. Someone added an additional speaker to the rear window shelf, but it is low profile and not very noticeable. I will throw in a replacement shelf panel if you’d like to go back to absolutely original.
The T-Top bags and space-saver spare are in the trunk.
A little elbow grease could make this car shine even better, but with the yellow color and black wheels, it already grabs tons of attention. And you can jump right in right now and go cruising. It’s a great driver, with no drivability issues apart from the power steering. It’s a very nice, original and unrestored Z28.
