For sheer enjoyable, high performance driving, it's hard to top this 1994 Chevrolet Corvette Resto-Mod. Building upon an already very able-bodied stock foundation with a great look to start, it features a whole host of add-ons, backed by actual build receipts, that combine to make it one serious rocket of a car that's as impressive in terms of straight line acceleration as it is flying through hairpin turns. Aesthetically speaking, '94 was a good year for 'Vettes. While still exhibiting... the styling cues that made the model so unique over the years, such as the long, sloping hood with hidden headlights and the short rear end, there's a noticeable amount of refinement added that makes it very distinct from some of the more geometric-looking models that came before it. Decked out in a very nice shade of deep metallic red that's ornamented by diagonal black "rookie" stripes over the front tires, you can tell this car is ready to rock! The one piece, removable Targa top is a great feature - it's surprisingly lightweight and easy to install, yet very effective in cutting down exterior noise when in place. In a car as angular as this, issues of fitment would really stand out, but take a lap around and you'll see smooth lines and well-positioned panels. It's got just the stance you would want in a car set up for uncompromising performance - low to the ground and level. The gray interior underscores that Corvettes were created with performance in mind. The bucket seats have high backs and are bolstered to keep the driver in place during sharp turns, and the extensive array of instrumentation is all within easy reach. The gauges themselves look great behind very clear lenses and the dash pad above them still looks nice and straight, showing no splits. This very year, Chevy saw fit to add a measure of safety for passengers, as well, installing air bags on the right side to go along with the one already in place for the driver. It's by no means a spartan car, as it comes with a number of creature comforts, including an AM/FM cassette system, cruise control, power seats, power windows and locks, a tilt wheel, and a well-maintained center console to provide some convenient storage space that's also high enough to rest an elbow on during less demanding driving conditions. As far as performance components go, it's a pretty unbeatable lineup we have here. Based on the already powerful LT1 engine, a stroked 396 equipped with electronic fuel injection and AFR High Flow heads sits under that long hood. Churning out 500 horsepower, it starts right up and runs very strong-emitting a great exhaust note through a set of long tube headers that transition into Power Effect adjustable mufflers. The engine is matched up with a 6 speed ZF transmission - a brand so respected for its power-handling ability that it's standard equipment on quite a number of exotic, performance-oriented nameplates. This ZF features two overdrive gears, so the top end on this car is truly impressive. A fully adjustable coil spring suspension makes navigating turns a blast and when that inevitable time comes to stop, you've got four-wheel ABS power disc brakes at the ready. This very inspired modification of the already esteemed Corvette brand sits on a set of stylish, black 17" Corvette wheels outfitted with Nitto tires.
