This is an ALL-STEEL Chevy 3100 First Series pickup. The body is solid and clean, but does show minor blemishes like stone chips, scuffs, chips, etc. from being driven and enjoyed by one family since 1995. You can run a felt-covered 4" square magnet over the entire exterior of the truck, and it sticks like glue. NO sign of chicken wire or beer cans, just real steel. It was painted a beautiful shade of green in 2001, and the paint is still shiny and pretty. The panel fit and gaps on the doors are very good, and the doors shut and open easily without issue. Emblems are in nice shape, but not perfect restorations. Chrome and shiny stuff on the truck is in very good condition, including the front and rear bumpers, headlight trim rings, hood trim, door handles, and mirrors. Chrome wheels with chrome center caps look great, and are wrapped in modern radial tires 235/60-R15 up front, and 255/60-R15 out back. Tires have at least 85% of the usable tread life remaining. Running boards on each side show scuff marks from shoes, as the truck was used often in family photo shoots, events, and Home Depot runs. Cowl vent works as it should, and seals up well too. New rubber weather stripping all around is less than a year old, and is soft, pliable, and fully functional. Glass is all clean and in great condition, except for a crack on the passenger side door glass. Thankfully, it is square so it won't be expensive or difficult to replace if you want to do it later. Door keys actually work to lock and unlock the door, and a separate ignition key fires things up. Air shock fittings pea out the side of the bed, and were installed years ago. Tail gate chains aren't show quality, but they are fully functional. Bed wood is what you would expect on a truck that was actually used and driven for a decade. It is clean wood, but shows its age, weathering, and issues. You could refinish it quite easily, replace it, or just leave it and keep driving and enjoying the truck like the previous owners did. Stainless trim in the bed is still in great shape. Tail gate opens and closes correctly. Tail lights are in great shape, and work like they should. That goes for the head lights, marker lights, and turn signals too. Even the horn works! Under the hood, a correct casting number 235ci I-6 motor sits and waits to be used. It was rebuilt in 2001 to stock specs, and has been regularly maintained and used since then. A 12v conversion allows a GM 1-wire alternator to be used, and complete Classic Air A/C system was installed with R134a to keep everyone cool on the inside. Keeping things cool under the hood falls on the re-cored radiator, high-flow water pump, and large fan. Even with the A/C on in the summer, the prior owner said he never had issues with overheating. My two recent trips in the truck on 87 degree days showed me that it stays cool, no matter what. It drips a drop or two after a long drive, doesn't smoke, and isn't burning any oil. It starts right up with the turn of key, idles cleanly, and is ready to roll whenever you are. Clutch has solid take-up, no chatter, and positive engagement. The shift linkage is tight and it shifts firmly into each gear. The rear end is a GM 10-bolt from a 1995 S-10 truck. It lets the truck cruise at 65mph happily, and has been under the truck since 2001. Drum brakes at all four corners have been regularly adjusted, cleaned, and maintained, and the truck stops easily without pulling or excess fade. Frame is stock and in very good condition. Steering is solid and sure, without any excessive slop or play in the wheel. Open the doors, and the interior is clean, straight, and simple. Doors on each side have upper panels, chrome door pulls and window rollers, and armrests. Lower portion of door has small holes cut out where speakers used to go, and polished plates on the bottom keep your shoes from scuffing the door panels. Rubber floor mat is a recent addition, and looks great! It is installed over a layer of heat and sound insulation. Bench seat is in great condition, and covered in thick black vinyl. It moves fore and aft like it should. Cardboard headliner is clean, and does not droop. Visors work as they should, and chrome rear view mirror shows very nicely. Steering wheel appears original, and has only light signs of use and wear. The horn works, but the button goes use a little chrome polish and elbow grease to make it look better. Vintage style suicide knob looks and works great, and folds in when not needed. Original turn signal system works like it should and looks nice too. All of the pedals work and look good, and the E-Brake is NON-FUNCTIONAL at this time. The under dash A/C system looks great, and works VERY well. I haven't needed to use it over fan setting 1, and on 3 it almost keeps it too cold! Original radio is in the dash, but is non-functional. An aftermarket stereo is still in the glove box, but it is non-functional at this time as well. Original gauges are intact, and all work as they should. This includes gas, temp, amps, and oil. The speedometer is within 1mph of GPS, and works as it should too. This truck is a very nice pickup, and PERFECT for someone who wants something they could drive and use every day. It is NOT a concourse restoration, and does have some minor blemishes and flaws. That being said, up until two weeks ago, it was being driven, used, and enjoyed at least once a week for the past 17 years, so it is reliable and ready to take anywhere. The vehicle is located in our Fort Myers, FL warehouse, and is just 20 minutes away from Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) if you want to fly in and see it.
