UP FOR SALE IS A ONE OF 6052 1987 CHEVROLET MONTE CARLO SS AEROCOUPE. THIS IS A PROJECT CAR THAT CURRENTLY DOES NOT RUN. IT HAS HAD A MID 1990’S LT1 ENGINE SWAP AND WAS A RUNNING VEHICLE UP UNTIL SOMETIME IN 2013 WHEN IT WAS PARKED DUE TO A COMPUTER PROBLEM. I RECENTLY PURCHASED THIS TO ATTEMPT TO GET IT UP AND RUNNING BUT DUE TO OTHER PROJECTS DO NOT HAVE THE TIME TO DO SO. SO HEAR IS WHAT I CAN TELL YOU ABOUT THE VEHICLE:
THIS VEHICLE ORIGINALLY STARTED LIFE AS A 305 C.I. AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION CAR. IT NOW CURRENTLY HAS WHAT APPEARS TO BE A 1995 LT1 ENGINE IN IT ALONG WITH THE HARNESS AND COMPUTER. THERE IS ALSO ANOTHER COMPUTER THAT COMES WITH THE CAR. IT WAS RUNNING UP UNTIL SOMETIME IN 2013 WHEN IT WOULD NOT RUN FOR THE FORMER OWNER WHO THEN PARKED IT. THE SERPENTINE BELT IS NOT ON THE ENGINE ALONG WITH MOST OF THE HOSES EITHER BEING DISCONNECTED OR THERE ARE NO HOSE CLAMPS ON THEM. BATTERY IS DEAD BUT I HOOKED UP A CHARGER TO IT AND WAS ABLE TO GET THE ENGINE TO TURN OVER. THATS AS FAR AS I GOT WITH THE MECHANICALS. THERE ARE NO KEYS TO THE CAR-IGNITION SWITCH WAS REMOVED FROM THE COLUMN AND THERE ARE NO DOOR/TRUNK LOCK KEYS EITHER. THE BODY OF THE CAR HAS THE USUAL DOOR DINGS FROM USE BUT DOES HAVE SOME RUST ISSUES DUE TO SITTING OUTSIDE ALONG THE GULF COAST OF TEXAS WHERE IT IS HOT AND HUMID MOST OF THE YEAR AND ITS ALSO A T-TOP CAR WHICH MEANS THEY LET IN MOISTURE-THE T-TOP BAR DOES HAVE A GOOD AMOUNT OF RUST ACROSS IT BUT STILL HOLDS THE TOPS IN PLACE-IT WILL NEED WORK. THE A-PILLARS ALONG THE FRONT WINDSHIELD ALSO HAVE HOLES AT THE TOP AND BOTTOM OF THE DRIVER SIDE AND THE PASSENGER SIDE HAS A HOLE IN THE DOOR JAMB HALF WAY DOWN FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE A-PILLAR-THIS IS ALL REPAIRABLE BY A SKILLED BODY PERSON. THE BOTTOMS OF THE DOORS ON BOTH SIDES HAVE SOME SMALL RUST HOLES ALONG WITH THE TRUNK LID AT THE BOTTOM CORNERS WHERE DIRT AND TRASH GET TRAPPED. QUARTERS ARE VERY SOLID. THE DRIVER SIDE FRONT FLOOR PAN IS VERY SOFT BUT NOT ROTTED THRU THAT I CAN SEE YET DUE TO WATER POOLING ON THE FRONT FLOOR DURING RAIN STORMS. PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR IS STILL SOLID. TRUNK IS VERY GOOD AND SOLID ALONG WITH THE TRUNK DROP OFFS. PAINT ON THE CAR IS TERRIBLE DUE TO AN OLDER REPAINT AND CLEAR COAT PEELING AND STAINING FROM IT SITTING IN THE SUN OVER THE LAST FIVE YEARS OR SO UNCOVERED. THE COWL HOOD IS FIBERGLASS AND IS HINGED AT THE BACK BUT THE HOOD IS BROKEN ON THE UNDERSIDE AT THE FRONT OF THE HINGES AND IT APPEARS THEY ATTEMPTED TO FIX IT WITH NOT MUCH LUCK. YOU WOULD EITHER HAVE TO PULL THE HOOD AND REPAIR/REINFORCE IT OR REPLACE IT. THE FRONT BUMPER COVER IS IN DECENT SHAPE ALONG WITH THE BUMPER SUPPORTS. THE REAR BUMPER COVER HAS A SMALL AREA ON THE DRIVER SIDE CORNER THAT APPEARS TO HAVE BEEN BUMPED. THE INTERIOR IS IN OVERALL GOOD CONDITION FOR ITS AGE AND FOR SITTING OUTSIDE IN THE SUN AND ELEMENTS-BUCKET SEAT CAR WITH CENTER CONSOLE AND AUTO TRANS SHIFTER. FRONT BUCKETS ARE IN DECENT SHAPE WITH NO TEARS IN THE UPHOLSTERY, REAR SEAT IS ALSO IN DECENT SHAPE BUT THE CLOTH MATERIAL IS STARTING TO COME APART, DOOR PANELS ARE SO-SO. CENTER CONSOLE IS COMPLETE BUT CONSOLE LID HINGE HAS BEEN COBBLED TOGETHER WITH SOME CHEAP BRASS HINGES TO HOLD IT IN PLACE. THE CARPET IS IN BAD SHAPE DUE TO WATER POOLING FROM THE T-TOPS LEAKING. DASH IS OVERALL OK BUT HAS THE USUAL CRACKS IN THE TOP PAD-IT DOES HAVE A GOOD CLUSTER WITH SPEEDO AND TACH AND ACCESSORY GAUGES-NOT SURE WHAT WORKS OR DOSENT WORK. HEADLINER IS IN NEED OF REPLACEMENT ALSO. ALL GLASS IS GOOD EXCEPT FRONT WINDSHIELD HAS CRACK ACROSS BOTTOM DASH AREA. THE WHEELS ARE AMERICAN RACING 15” WHEELS AND THE REAR TWO TIRES ARE BRAND NEW-FRONTS ARE IN VERY POOR SHAPE. UNDERSIDE OF THE CAR IS IN DECENT SHAPE WITH A 10 BOLT REAR DIFFERENTIAL AND DUAL EXHAUST SYSTEM. I HAVE A CLEAR TEXAS TITLE THAT IS A COPY DUE TO THE OWNER LOOSING THE ORIGINAL. ALSO AS STATED THERE ARE NO KEYS FOR THE VEHICLE. THIS WOULD MAKE A GREAT RESTOMOD PROJECT OR RESTORATION PROJECT. IT IS ROUGH AROUND THE EDGES BUT WOULD MAKE A GREAT STREET CAR THAT WILL BRING BACK THE NASCAR MEMORIES.
