1969 Chevrolet Chevelle Concours Additional Info:
1969 Chevy Concours 6 passenger wagon, this has the hidden trunk in the back instead of another seat. Concours is the deluxe trim for 69 and had the SS style grill and other upgraded trim, the Nomad was the base model. Original Turbo fire 4 barrel 350 v8 car with factory air, tinted glass, hidden wipers, dual tailgate with power rear window, HD cooling, automatic, 12 bolt 2.73 rear end. These Chevelle body wagons are a really nice size, good looking with enough space to be useful but not big heavy boats like the full size wagons.
It is a great driver and ready and able for a long distance trip. It is comfortable to drive. A new windshield was installed less than 5000 miles ago so it is very clear. The car runs strong and handles well for a wagon.Everything works and AC blows cold air. AC compressor has been re-wired with a toggle switch to allow the defrost to be used without running the compressor. It has been all over on many trips and has never stranded us. We drove this in its current state from Southern California to Yosemite and on to Hetch Hetchy and back with all our camping gear in November of 2017 and had a great trip with the wagon only needing gas. This has been well maintained and given many upgradesover the years. It gets mileage of about 14 in town or traffic and around 20 on the open highway at 70+. I have driven this in everything from the desert at 118 degrees to mountain snow conditions as cold as 4 degrees without any trouble.Car still looks good but with the paint being 21 years old now I consider it a "20 footer". There is some minor body work on the rear drivers side & some rust in the usual locations.
The car has been in the family since 1971 when my father bought it from a friend. I have had it since the early 90s.
Car was partially restored in 1996 with body & paint, Suspension & Interior work. It was my daily driver for the next 10 years and has had many upgrades since then.
In 2002 the front bench seat was replaced with used power Leather buckets from a Chrysler 300m and the rear seat re-done in matching vinyl. Front buckets have some wear. Carpet was done at the same time but has some fading. Headliner is good. Stereo is Alpine with cd player.
The current engine is a GM performance Vortec head 350 HO 330 horsepower / 380 ft lbs crate engine with Edelbrock performer intake, Thunder series 650 CFM carburetor, Pertronix HEI III distributor (multi spark w/rev limiter), Hi flow water pump, 120 amp CS 144 alternator, HD aluminum radiator, HD fan clutch with original fan and shroud, 2 & 4 gauge battery and alternator cables, small permanent magnet Delco style starter & Doug Thorley tri-y headers. Engine has 39,600 miles on it. Carb, distributer, water pump radiator etc. have less that 2,500 miles.Transmission is TH 350 built with ATI 2.75 low gear set, HD roller clutch race, HD rear sprag, machined pistons with the max number of clutches, Wide direct drum bushing, HD band, Transgo HD Valve body kit and complete rebuild with all rings, bushings, washers, Alto clutches and steels. Torque converter is Hughes GM 11 Tow, more stall at take off but tighter at cruise. Large external cooler and filter. Trans has 53,173 miles
Wheels are 70s 14" x 7" 6 slot chevy rally's with the original hub caps & 225-70 All season GT tires by Cooper with less than 2500 miles. Spare is the same wheel and tire size.
Front suspension has factory disk brakes, AGR quick ratio steering box & pump, tubular lower arms, Global west 500 in lb springs, Bilstien HD shocks, Moog bushings, balljoints etc. & 1 1/8" factory sway bar.
Rear suspension has HD Moog springs & bushings, Airlift 100 Air bags, KYB gas adjust shocks & 1" sway bar. Complete bearing job was done 71,000 miles ago. Superior Axles & bearings were installed 24,000 miles ago.
This is a good car to keep and drive as is or for someone who would want to re-do the exterior & interior and not have to worry about the drivetrain. Please ask any and all questions. I've done all the work myself so know the car inside and out. I have tried to be complete and accurate in the description but like any private party sale of a 49 year old car this is sold As - Is.
