1988 Chevrolet Camaro Iroc Z Additional Info:

1988 Iroc-Z 5-Speed, G92 Convertible with only 38K miles!
In the late 80's and early 90's, you either owned an IROC-Z, or you wish you did!
This is a fine example of one of the most iconic sports cars from that era with some pretty rare options.
(I would like to give credit to Matt Garrett of Dallas, Texas for some of the information I was able to gather about this car, as he owns one and has it posted on his website. I do not know him personally, but he is a professional collector and his website is amazing and an inspiration to hobbyist like myself. If you have never visited his website, do yourself a favor and google him.)

Factory original IROC-Z convertible with the exception of tires and front floor mats. 5 Speed G-92 Performance car, J65 Rear Disk Brakes, KC4, Borg Warner M78 Differential, LB9 TPI 225HP 245/50ZR16 Tires. Vin's 6th digit is a "3" = factory convertible. 2 family adult driven and owned since new. Always garaged.

If you think this is just another IROC-Z vert, you may not know what makes this car special. Options:

Factory convertible IROC-Z

5-speed

LB9 = normally 195 HP, but with the G92 option, made it a "hot" 5.0 with 225 HP and only available in 1988

G92 - offered only in 1987 & 1988

KC4 Oil cooling system

J65 - rear disc brakes

GM3 - 3.45 gear ratio with Borg Warner differential

Desirable collector cars with rare performance options usually see greater appreciation in the marketplace. I believe this car had the potential to appreciate exponentially in relation to other IROC-Z's that are similar.

This Iroc-Z was built in California and shipped to Canada, so the speedometer is in kilometers, not miles. Reading 61619 km, that converts to 38,288 miles. Even though it was shipped to Canada, it has spent most of its life here in Texas. It first arrived in Texas in August of 1991 when the 2nd owner purchased it from her brother. (for some reason I don't remember, it was easier to transfer the vehicle title through the moving company's name. ) I have a copy of the previous title as well as a carfax history report that shows the mileage history in Texas over the years. Several people get confused with the km/miles thing. The car has 38,288 miles on it and I will stand by that.

I have owned the car for two years and have always kept it garaged. I have enjoyed taking it out in the spring and summer here in Texas and putting on some gentle miles. I intended to keep this car for 15-20 years, but our oldest daughter starts college soon and I will have to part with a car I think is a true collector.

The Iroc is in great shape, but its not perfect.

Here are the pros:

Clean, clear Texas title in my name.

Mechanics all work fine.

Cosmetics are very good.

Rear hatch pull down works!

A/C works!

No rips/tears in seats!

Radio/Cassette works!

Convertible top and window are in good shape and do not need replacing!

Here are the cons:

Power antenna is not working.

Latch to release convertible top pin needs to be replaced. (I have a replacement, just haven't installed it.)

Tires are older Firestone Firehawks. If you plan on driving alot, I would replace.

Paint has the "spider" cracks in the front spoiler that you see in several original paint Iroc's.

Personal inspections are encouraged. Honesty and integrity are more important than money. I will be happy to answer questions. Vehicle is located in BELTON, TEXAS
