1947 Chevrolet Other Pickups Additional Info:
I have up for auction a completely one of a kind rat rod 1947 Chevrolet Truck, or at least it started its life as a truck. First of all I did not build it but do know some of the history and will pass along all of the info that I know. It was built by a shop in Missouri and then purchased by someone in Texas who began to disassemble it before I purchased it and started reconstructing it. Unfortunately, I have several other projects that I am working on and no longer have the space to keep this, since it requires being indoors. When it was built it was was designed to handle well and have plenty of performance. My plan was to make some modifications and run autocross with it. The frame is from a 1995 Chevrolet S10, but the rear leaf spring suspension was cut out and a 1995 Cougar independent rear suspension set up was installed( Wheelbase is 101"). The front suspension was rebuilt with all new components and 2" Bilstein lowering spindles were installed. The engine is a 5.3L LM7(LS) out of a 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe that is mostly stock except for the custom headers and performance ECM tune. Transmission is a TH400 that was rebuilt with a shift improvement kit. Rear end gears are factory 3.08 making it a very good highway cruiser that still gets decent fuel mileage as long as you can keep your foot out of it. It has a fully custom built cage from front to rear. It has manual brakes coming from 2 Wilwood master cylinders and has a handbrake for the rears next to the shifter handle. With 4 wheel disc brakes this thing stops very well. As for the body the cab is chopped significantly and was by no means a professional job, but it is structurally sound and the exposed welds, dents, minor rust spots definitely add to the character of it. The front windshield is Lexan and there are no side or rear windows(reason for me keeping indoors), and no wipers. I do have the full set of black Camaro 20s and the 15" front rallye wheels that will be included.
Please note that this truck is still considered a project(at least to me). Things that still need to be done are...Front Sheet-metal needs to be finished welded together(it is only tacked) or removed(your personal preference) The fenders are bolted to the cab and could be removed but the grille is welded to the fenders and to the frame. It is only tacked for now until I could decide if I liked it or not. (I can remove it for easier transport if needed.)Bed needs to be attached or left off(your preference)(It will come with it, but it is not on it right now.) I have 2 bed sides, bed front and the rails, but no tailgate or fenders.Wing needs to be reinstalled(your preference)Brakes need to be bled(I installed a new pressure switch for brake lights and have not bled them.)Lights need to be installed and wired up(removed by previous owner and I have no lights for it other than the brake/tail lights which do work)Exhaust needs to be ran out the side or the back if the front sheetmetal is left on
I'm sure there are a few minor odds and ends that need to be done but that is the majority of it. If you plan to register it for the road you need to check with your state to make sure that it will pass all of the legal requirements, and if you plan to race it, you should look up the rules for the class and make sure that it will pass tech inspection.
This truck does run and drive, but no one will be driving it except me until after cash has changed hands. If you would like to set up a time to come see it, you are certainly encourage to do so. I can also send pictures via text or email if you tell me specifically what you would like to see.
I do have a clean and clear Texas title for this truck and it is titled as a 1947 Chevrolet PK. I also registered it in Texas as an antique and was not required to pass any type of inspection. When I first purchased the truck I did put quite a few miles on it and this truck performs very well and gets tons of attention everywhere that it goes.
The last 4 pictures are from the previous owner and do not resemble exactly what the truck looks like today. The first three pictures are from very recent and the others are from after I first purchased it.
These links are from the builder and show the truck in action. You can also search Copper Rat Rod on google and there are several articles written from when the truck was first built.
