1970 LS5 454 Corvette Stingray.
Beautiful LS5 Corvette finished in its original Monza Red (code 974) with black interior (code 400).
This1970 LS5 Stingray is a very original car. It retains the 454/390 HP motor with original Turbo 400 automatic transmission and original 12 bolt 3.36 posi-traction rear end.
Options include: Power windows, power brakes, shoulder harness seat belts, am/fm radio.
The original 454 engine was rebuilt, blue-printed and balanced in 1994 and runs very strong. Small cam and headers were added. I have the rebuild shops paperwork. When the block was decked the last digit of the vin was shaved off (see picture). In 1994 I don't think anyone thought how valuable these cars would be.Transmission was also professionally rebuilt.
Recent maintenance includes: Front end suspension rebuild. Original brake calipers rebuilt and new pads installed. Bearings and bushings front and rear. New exhaust, shocks and gas tank. Original carb and distributor rebuilt.
Car has been well maintained and obviously garage kept. Frame is solid with no rust issues. Paint is not perfect, but very nice, with no cracks or checking - great shine. Chrome and stainless is as new. Interior is close to perfect. All gauges work including clock.
I have original tank sticker (unfortunately it’s almost unreadable), original Owners Manual, and a lot of receipts for work done to the car including detailed paperwork for engine rebuild. BF Goodrich TA radials look new. Spare tire and jack are in place.
Disclosed items: Some fiber optic lights do not work. Small tear in back of driver’s seat. Right side of wiper door does not align with fender (seems to be resting on wiper arm). Small drip from transmission pan.
Car shows very well. Runs and drives excellent - very tight, no rattles. Most parts on the car are original, let me know if you need additional pictures, numbers/dates or have any questions.
You will be hard pressed to find a nicer chrome bumper big block Corvette in this price range. Pictures do not do car justice.
NOTE: 1970 was a limited production year and last year for high compression engines.
