There are very few classic cars more iconic than the '57 Chevy. Its very mention conjures up images of memorable car scenes from the big screen and a long list of universally revered songs. Combining an unusually attractive two-tone color scheme, a very "cruise-friendly" interior and a drivetrain that's functioning at the top of its game, this 1957 Chevrolet 150 has been taken up a few notches to resemble the high-trim Bel Air, and is ready, willing and able to hit the boulevard right away to provide its next lucky owner with future chapters sure to be filled with great memories behind the wheel.
Two-tone paint jobs are certainly nothing new on classic cars, especially vintage Chevys, but you don't often see shades like this champagne gold interspersed with the usually-present white accenting. It's an effective choice - distinct and yet classy. There are some pretty obvious reasons why the full-sized Chevys of this particular year are so prized for their styling, which was ironically due to undergo a major change this very year that was fortunately delayed. They're such stout, capable looking cars to begin with and that sturdy, dominant front grille, the rocket emblems resting on top of the hood to point the way forward, and the long stretches of chrome running the lengths of the sides all combine to create an unrivaled, high impact classic car appearance. Fortunately for a car carrying such a vast array of chrome, all pieces are present and accounted for and while they could possibly use a little bit of freshening, they still look quite good.
A very inviting interior, a nice blend of stock and aftermarket touches, awaits inside. The vinyl bench seats in both front and rear, bearing their signature Chevy bowties, are very comfortable and have a lot of life remaining, showing no obvious tears or wear spots. Just beyond the burl-wood grained steering wheel, a set of modern aftermarket digital gauges glow in blue with their readings and an underdash air conditioning system awaits your direction to keep you and your passengers comfortable. Providing just the right era-appropriate vibe, a retro-styled AM/FM radio sits midpoint in an expansive stretch of chrome that literally runs the width of the dash area. Owing to this 150's generous proportions, there's plenty of room inside, which is a good thing, as you'll have no shortage of willing passengers when you take this rolling nostalgia machine out on the road. There's also an abundance of luggage room in the very spacious trunk area in back, with a full-sized spare sitting securely stowed off to the side in its recessed position.
This is one classic car that will be poised to hit the road as soon as you get it home. A 400 cubic inch V8 sits beneath the hood and it's in good form and running smoothly and, as it's paired with a TH700r4 automatic transmission, you'll get the benefits of overdrive for effortless cruising at highway speeds. The powerplant sits in a very clean engine bay that features a lot of nice aftermarket touches, including a well-proportioned aluminum radiator that combines with an electric fan to keep temperatures in check, a chrome pulley system, chrome air cleaner and master cylinder, and billet steel hood hinges. This vintage cruiser is an easy driver, as well, as it's equipped with both power steering and power front disc brakes and sits on a set of 14" custom spoked wheels, outfitted with Hankook radials.
