1980 Chevrolet C-10 Additional Info:
My father in law bought this truck new in 1980 and only used it to get firewood. I bought it from him in 1992? With 26,000 miles.
About 1998 with 77k miles, the original motor was pulled and a New (not rebuilt) Crate motor was installed. I had ordered the motor having the better heads, but Lower HP output (240?hp). Before the new motor went in the truck, all New high end components were installed (ie Edelbrock High Flow Waterpump), I didn’t reuse any of the old parts off the original. A new high HP cam went in with an Edelbrock manifold and Carb. I used the same parts from Edelbrocks 325HP? kit, with the exception of the cam, which had a different lift and duration profile, adding more low end torque and midrange.
Not long after the new motor went in, the original transmission went bad. Ziggys (Lumberton, NJ?) provided a TH-350 transmission, in place of the original, Lockup 350.
The rebuilt transmission did not last too long, as a defective torque converter made it fail a couple of years later.
Vince’s Transmission in NE Philadelphia is well known and respected for racing transmissions. I had him rebuild the trans and it’s been perfect ever since. Have receipt.
Almost all running gear has been replaced (at various times). Previously:
Motor and transmission MSD Billet Distributor
Drive shaft carrier bearing and universal joints.
Recored radiator (with maximum possible tubes)
New heater core.
Wheels / tires Very recently:
Completely new brake system. All New metal lines, new calipers and pads, New slave cylinders, shoes and hardware kit. New wheel bearings and seals.
New shocks (4).
All new rubber under the Hood: new belts, new hoses, etc...
New LMC premium chrome front bumper
New LED headlights, new adjusters, etc...
New chrome grill parts
Battery (last year)
New Battery tray
New exhaust system from the heads back:
New headers with welded Hedman ball socket swivel joints (no more leaky collector flanges!).
New Thrush mid pipes, mufflers and tailpipes.
New window channel rubber
New door weather strip rubber (drives needs to be installed, comes with truck).Truck runs and drives perfectly, needs nothing to enjoy and drive.
However it has needs!:
Floors need to be fixed (I have new panel), left side has a large hole
Tailgate socket right side needs to be replaced.
The tires do have dry rot and should be replaced.
Leak in Power steering return hose. (I have All New power steering hoses high and low, to go with truck, LMC Kit).Rear transmission seal is dripping and should be replaced.
The truck has power steering and power brakes, no air conditioning, manual door locks, rubber floor mats.
I have a company provided work vehicle. This truck was my sometimes, weekend errand ride.I had planned on keeping it forever and always replaced anything it needed with good quality components. I was just recently given a deal on a newer 4X4 that I could not pass up.
I have brand new NOS Chevy front fenders available for the truck. If the sale price is $500 above my reserve, they will be included.
I had them sold on eBay years ago for $600, but the buyer had backed out.
The truck is being sold as is, with no warranty, expressed or implied. Please come look it over in Erial NJ.I'm hoping for a local, cash sale, but will accommodate pickup by a transport company, etc... as my schedule allows.
I reserve the right to end the auction if I missed something, or have provided any incorrect information, etc...
