Description
Condition
This is a Chevrolet CUCV truck built for the U.S. Military. These are rugged basic trucks with few conveniences. Everything is basic on this truck except it does have power steering and brakes. No factory A/C. No Radio. It is classified as 1.25 ton. Originally this truck had an air compressor and a generator in the utility bed but those were removed before I got it. This truck has working 4WD with a floor shifter and manual lock hubs on the front wheels. The miles on the truck are original- only a little over 18,000. The utility bed has numerous lockable storage compartments on each side. The rear opens up to reveal a roll out wood floor bed made by Joeybed. The tires are Uniroyal Liberator A/T LT285/75/R16. There is about 20% to 25% tread on the front and 5% to 10% on the rear tires. The truck is in pretty good shape for the age. It runs and drives. Top speed is around 55mph. You can push it to 60mph or slightly higher but the engine is wound up & loud at this speed. These vehicles weren't made to run highway speeds. The undercarriage looks pretty good (see pics). There is one small storage compartment (near left rear) that is bent up from the truck running over something and this one compartment lets water in. I had all new glow plugs put in because they were just about worn out.
As far as its history obviously the military was the first owner. Then it was sold/transferred to an Arkansas volunteer fire department. It was painted white & used to carry portable generators and other equipment for the fire department. The interior is still OD green and under the hood and inside the utility bed. I purchased it from the fire department this summer for resale. I have titled it in my name but haven't driven it much.
