Ever since they were first introduced in the late '50s, Impalas have been as strongly associated with car culture as asphalt. You'd be hard pressed to find a more fitting example of this fabled boulevard aristocracy than in this 1964 Chevrolet Impala SS. Brought to optimum form through a two-year restoration process where no corners were cut and no details overlooked, it's looking great and stands ready to help its next owner create chapters of new memories.
Generously proportioned and yet carrying no excess, this '64 is one very clean looking cruiser. Patient prepping and great craftsmanship have resulted in a deep shine glowing from its Ferrari red exterior and its head turning quotient is undeniable. The paint is as smooth and even as you could hope for and is ably complemented by a full assembly of clean looking ornamentation. A very thorough and meticulous restoration has left this Chevy with outstanding body alignment and clean chrome that runs from front to back, where you'll find its set of signature pair of triple taillights bracketed by an exceedingly cool engine-turned aluminum panel above - exclusive to upgraded "SS" models like this one - and a very straight bumper below. Even the badging looks more vibrant than you normally see.
Inside the doors you'll find an impressive black vinyl interior that's been brought back to stellar condition while retaining its stock configuration. From the pair of wide-backed bucket seats up front to the bench seat in back, to the door panels and quarter trim they're flanked by, everything looks great. Textured, engine-turned accents matching those sported by the taillight panel outside are on display here as well on the dash area and center console - it's a killer look that might well have been a precursor to the carbon fiber accents we see today. Just above, the instrument cluster looks nearly new and the factory tachometer situated just in front of it is a great feature. There are a of couple of well-selected add-ons to accompany the otherwise stock look you'll find here and they include a Pioneer AM/FM/CD player that also carries USB and auxiliary ports, and an aftermarket Vintage Air climate control system that's been seamlessly installed to keep everyone comfortable through a quartet of very well-placed registers. The spacious trunk area in back is as clean as you could want. Lined with gray carpeting, it's got a finished look but still exposes enough steel to let you know everything is straight and solid back here.
Raise the hood and you'll find a 409 cubic inch V8 sitting front and center in the very clean engine bay which replaced the original 327 V8 during the restoration. Carrying an Edelbrock 4-barrel carb and intake on top, the big block is in fine form and running smoothly and good for a full 340 horsepower when it was tested. It's paired with TH350 3-speed automatic transmission that shifts with confidence-inspiring smoothness to make for a very street ready drivetrain. Up front, a well-proportioned aluminum radiator is accompanied by dual electric fans to keep things cool in more demanding driving conditions. This outstanding Chevy classic sits on a set of 15" Corvette rally wheels with spinner caps, outfitted with Daytona SR radials. For those more intent on a proper stock appearance, a set of SS wheels and hubcaps are included.
