Admit it, you've always admired big, tastefully-done 4x4s like this 1986 Chevy K10 pickup. It keeps its factory look but amps it up a bit with the usual 4x4 upgrades and the result is like a stock truck on steroids. It's also loaded with options and incredibly straight, making it a high-quality, yet very affordable, proposition.
Anything this big is going to command a lot of attention, so it's good news that it's in excellent shape, even up close. The bright red paint is about five years old, and while it isn't perfect, it does look appropriate and red always looks right on an old pickup truck. It doesn't appear that this was a work truck, and instead the short bed/regular cab was probably used for commuting and fun on weekends during its early years. As a result, the bodywork is in great shape with straight panels and good gaps that don't show any signs of abuse, and the paint shines up quite nicely. The chrome and stainless is in great shape, the lenses are clear and the doors close the way only a clean, unmolested truck's can. There's also a spray-in bedliner that is quite neatly done and allows you to still put the truck to work and you'll note there are no big dents or other signs of heavy work in this truck's past.
The handsome red interior is typical mid-80s GM, with velour-like upholstery that's comfortable and durable. The door panels show almost no wear, just a little dent where the driver's elbow might rest, and things like the carpets and dash pad are quite good. Factory instruments are stashed behind an aluminum-look gauge panel that brightens the interior's look, and there's a stock 2-spoke Chevy steering wheel that still seems appropriate for a truck. Options include factory A/C, power windows and locks, cruise control, and a tilt steering column, making this a no-compromises pickup that can work well and coddle its passengers. An AM/FM/CD stereo has been fitted in the lower corner of the instrument panel, replacing the original radio, and it sounds great through speakers fitted in the stock locations. The big shifter in the middle manages the 4-wheel-drive system and there's a sliding rear window for those days that don't quite need the A/C.
The engine is a 350 cubic inch crate motor with less than 10,000 miles on it, and with a good-sized 4-barrel carburetor, it starts easily, idles well even when it's cold, and has a nice, flat torque curve that's perfect for a full-sized pickup. No outrageous modifications, just a mild cam, HEI ignition system, long-tube headers, and a lot of OEM parts throughout that ensure easy service and reliability in the future. Backed by a 700R4 4-speed automatic overdrive transmission, it's comfortable around town and cruises easily on the highway without getting buzzy. A custom dual exhaust system with Flowmaster mufflers gives it a definite hot-rod sound that really works with the big 4x4 look, and while it's not detailed underneath, it is in very good shape with no signs of abuse. Twin gas tanks give it bladder-bursting range on the highway and the stock suspension gives it a great look that still leaves space for those giant BFGoodrich off-road radials.
It's OK, we all know these are cool trucks. If you've wanted one since you were a kid, this is a nice one that's got all the toys and is ready to go right away. Call today and start having fun!
