1966 Chevrolet Other window van sportsman Additional Info:
i collected odd cars amphicars and mini cars and many other antiques especially white with red interiors....I and 30 at one time ..... I bought this 7 years ago all rebuilt..even has new rubber around the hinges and directionals it had new shocks underneath is immaculate .. I never used it.. I removed the interior as i wanted to do it all red.....I moved to costa rica and it sat for 3 years ... I moved back and a famous airplane engineer/mechanic/pilot named Alex Poulos he was Jimmy Buffets pilot and maintained his antique seaplanes for 8 years.. He has a shop near me in Rhode island where he specializes in rebuilding antique seaplanes.. He wanted the van... at the time i had about 10 antiques that had been sitting in storage... Amphicar Pacer X Gremlin , insane turbo dune buggy, subaru brat, stderbaker silver hawk.. t-bird.. etc etc... He said he wanted van for himself he was between contracts .. I told him how i wanted to put disc brakes on front cause i like the old vans but the braking on them sucked to use as an everyday driver ...and redo interior and I'm trying to find a big old station wagon chrome roof rack for the surf boards etc etc etc .. . So i made a deal if he went thru my collection i would give him the van... He took van and a pacer and gremlin and started working... he finished the pacer and most of gremlin and of course he went thru van first cause he was using it... Well he got another big contract and couldn't finish the deal so i got the Van back...Well he put in a proportional braking system everything new top lines cooper and zinc and all new master and wheel cylinders everyone even thou it didn't need them he put in new gas lines and new tires and new muffler.. The thing purrs like a kitten and drives and brakes better than brand new.. .When i bought it was done what i would call a good amateur restoration .. the side pop out windows had some rust they just clean up and painted over.. but underneath and everywhere rust free....I found some bench seats from an old motorhome that are really cool they can fold facing forward or back or each other or lay down into a bed... i found some pictures from my phone from this summer... ..I still have address of the guy Duncan who rebuilt it 8 years ago and phone of airplane mechanic who just went thru it....Like i said i just bought it and put it away and barely used it maybe 4 or 5 days a year.....I am guessing this is worth a minimum of 15,000... i just posted on craigslist and said 10,000 .....in the pictures you can see the seats i got ... and the adjustment knob with a glass bubble thats part of the proportional braking system... you might see a little wire along the dash thats just a cheap little led light string i used for extra lighting........
