Not only is it a member of true boulevard royalty that's been memorialized in print, on screen and in song, but this 1966 Chevrolet Impala is also a great looking and well-equipped ride that's been thoroughly re-configured with a number of new parts to make for worry-free daily driving. It features a great color and comes with documentation to back up the freshness of its rebuilt powerplant.
This Impala is not only a member of a generation that featured a folkloric reputation, but also great popularity. Thoroughly redesigned just a year before this one came out, the model was a huge success, logging what was then an all-time industry annual sales record. Just a quick glance at this outstanding specimen and you can see the reason for all the fuss. It's a great looking car, with its mist blue exterior, a factory correct color showing a nice, even shine underneath a great clearcoat - with its evenness of hue standing as proof that the sun hasn't been allowed to extract its toll. The finishing touches that make such a visual difference with a coveted car like this are well-represented, as the front and rear bumpers are level and sport very clean chrome, the Super Sport badging looks extra sharp and well-aligned, and the front and rear windshields are carrying clear glass that's surrounded with fresh rubber seals. Take a lap around the car and you'll also see how well-aligned its body panels are - those nice even gaps make for doors, hood and deck lid that open and close smoothly and sit flush.
Just inside, the vinyl interior remains in solid original condition. The wide-backed bucket seats up front and bench seat in back have retained their shape admirably well and show no visible tears, nor serious discoloration - the latter being no small feat, considering their white color. With all the magnetism of this '60s classic, you'll have no shortage of enthusiastic passengers when you hit the road, and when you do, those slow on the draw to call "shotgun" will find themselves very comfortable as they climb into a backseat with ample legroom. The dash area, also in its original configuration, features an appealing and distinct configuration, with the factory gauges sitting just beyond the steering wheel joined by an additional four gauges just a little lower at the front of the center console. You'll find an AM/FM radio sitting at the center of the dash that proudly carries the Chevy bowtie, joined by a second AM/FM/CD system inside the glove box that also features Bluetooth connectivity. A full-sized spare and jack sit in the trunk area in back.
A 350-cubic inch V8 equipped with a 4-barrel carb sits under the hood to provide just the power you'd expect from a classic ride like this. The powerplant has logged only about 10,000 miles since being rebuilt, and it's bolted to a 3-speed automatic transmission that's shifting nice and smooth to make for a confidence inducing drivetrain. Just in front of the engine, an aluminum radiator is joined by a pair of electric fans to keep your operating temperature within an optimal range. To further up this Chevy's reliability factor when faced with the demands of daily driving, a pair of power disc brakes have been installed in front, complemented by a new power brake booster. This perennial cruising favorite sits on a set of 17" American Racing rims, outfitted with Yokohama YK 580 tires.
