The Corvette needs no real introduction. Ever since its introduction in 1953 the Corvette has been one of the world's premier sports cars and has been an aspirational vehicles for millions around the world. A good story often accompanies a rare Corvette and this 1965 is no example. Purchased from a used car lot in Saginaw Michigan in 1968 on a measly Air Force pay this car wasn't the owners first choice but events transpired and the car went to a new loving home. An extremely rare piece this ca...r was one of just 1191 1965 convertibles painted in Tuxedo Black Lacquer. Other factory options mean that this is an extremely rare car. About 1200 cars were ordered without the soft top and just 168 were ordered with blackwall tires. It's safe to say that you won't find another car with this specification. The car was ordered from the factory with the 327cid/350hp V8 4-speed manual four wheel disc brakes matching hardtop Z01 day/night mirror and inboard backup lights N11 off road exhaust system blackwall tires and radio delete. The car was also ordered without power brakes or power steering. The car has been with the same owner since 1968 and recently he decided to do a no expense spared frame off restoration. The interior and exterior are flawless and probably look even better than when it left the factory! About $80k was spent on the restoration and nothing was left untouched. The owner was very meticulous in only using numbers matching parts or if needed date code correct parts. The original engine has been rebuilt in Indiana and has even used the original rebuilt water pump and distributor. The original numbers matching camshaft 3.55 rear end rebuilt transmission heads interior trim seats sunvisors drive shaft dash pad and much much more has been reused and rebuilt. The car has a matching restored hardtop as there was no factory soft top and the rear panel has no holes for a soft top. There is a massive amount of photos receipts documents and information on the restoration. Nothing has been left untouched and this is one of the most thorough and original restorations we have ever seen. A four year restoration has paid off and this car is a unique and highly documented part of Corvette history. You will be hard pressed to find another car with this amount of information.
