1951 Chevy 3800
Up for your consideration is my 1951 Chevy 3800. I've only seen a couple of other 3800's over the years and they were quite rusted out and beat up. They're not your typical "hot rod" short beds, but rather it's very rare and unique with the factory 9 ft bed. Being the rare bird that it is I couldn't pass it up when I came across it a couple of years ago. As you can see from the pictures this old girl is in overall really good shape.
The bench seat is in perfect shape and was recently professionally recovered (not a cheap slip on). The dash is all there and in great shape as well as the gauges (I can't confirm whether they work or not, but they're there).
So far as I know, and from what I'm told, the 6 cyl engine is original to the truck along with the manual transmission and rear-end. The engine is not currently running, but will turn and is not seized. The previous owner mentioned he had it running within the last few years but I haven't had the time to get it running myself. I don't imagine that it would take much to get her going again.
The body is definately solid enough to be worthy of a full restoration and repaint, or get her running and drive it as is and use it as a cool shop truck. Both lower cab corners, running boards, inner fenders and outer fenders are rock solid with no rot. The small, and easily repaired, rust on the truck is on the corners of each forwardfloor area. On both doors it appears that there was a "beehive" decal on there long ago which tells me it may have either been a State of Utah fleet vehicle or possibly a university vehicle.
Tires are in great condition and the wheels are matching 8 lug GM steel wheels.
Housekeeping:Please ask all questions, have funds in place, and permission (if needed, haha) BEFORE bidding. It takes a lot of time and money to list on ebay and I don't want to waste my, or anyone elses, time. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer, but I'm willing to help on my end to make sure all goes well with your transport at pick up time. Truck is being sold as is with no warranty expressed or implied. I'm not a dealer. I've described the vehicle as straight forwardly as I can. To serious bidders, if you want to see anything that isn't pictured I'm happy to take additional photos of what you'd like to see and email them to yo, just ask. I'm willing to discuss the truck on the phone with serious buyers, simply email me your phone number and I will call you. I'll consider ending the aution early if you would like to make an offer that's good for both of us. I reserve the right to end the auction at any time for any reason. Good Luck !!
