1973 Chevrolet Corvette Additional Info:
THIS CAR IS A PROJECT! Clean CA title - came from an estate. This is a rare optioned car and a one year only design. There were only 1,328 Factory Hardtop convertibles made for this year - and even fewer with AC(AC not hooked up) and 4 speed manual transmission. No 2nd soft top(car never had one). The car also has power steering, disc brakes and tilt steering. The car runs and drives but needs TLC. The engine idles rough and smokes a little but has good oil pressure and plenty of power. Seems to run a little hot so expect valve job and/or replacement of the original radiator. Starter is beginning to go out - last few times starting the car it is making a loud clanking noise. I have driven the car about 60 miles total - taken it on the freeway up to 80 mph. It floats a little so there will be some additional steering/suspension items needed to tighten it up. It shifts through the gears without any grinding from the original Muncie 4 speed transmission. The engine block codes to a '79 Corvette. It is still a 350 which was original to the car.The rest of the car appears all original(minus the front bumper) except for one repaint in the original color. Although I have taken care of several necessary items, the car still needs additional TLC - no signs of any prior restoration done so there are deferred maintenance items needed. I have started the process by putting over $3000 into it within the last month. New items include the following:
4 KYB shocks - Tie rod ends - Cooper Tires - power steering hoses/ram/control valve - Optima battery - side mirrors - alignment - oil change - filter - remanufactured Quadrajet Carb.
Body is nice and straight - looks nice as you can see in the photos - but I would consider it a 20 footer with easily noticeable flaws up close. No rust issues. Interior is original and functional but shows its age. Most electrical is working - gauges work except for clock and temperature gauge. Brakes work fine and do not pull but I know one of the rear calipers is leaking. Power windows work but passenger side is slow. Aftermarket radio in car works. The car has great bones - solid and straight and a good candidate for a full restoration if that is what your looking for. Otherwise put a few more dollars into it and enjoy the car as is. I have set a low reserve on the car. I think you will be hard pressed to find another chrome bumper factory hardtop convertible at this price.
