1992 Chevrolet Lumina Z-34 Additional Info:
The holidays are here and this car would look great with a bow on it for someone who will appreciate it. The reality is that I am getting married, so the time has come to sell my rare car to someone else who will appreciate it as much as I have. It has an extended powertrain warranty which is good until mid December 2017.
Based on my research, only 1914 of these were made with the 5-speed manual transmission during a three-year production period. The car is now 25 years old and very few of them are left on the road at this point and mine has one of the cleanest interiors around. There are no rips or tears in the seats or the headliner. The car does need a paint job due to delamination and new interior carpet. With a nice paint job and a few other tweaks she will shine again.
As my mechanic can attest to, I have put a lot of blood, sweat, and tears into this car., and invested a lot in her both financially and time-wise. This includes thousands of dollars into fixing things as I went...most recently it was all the clutch parts. I have always tried to use genuine GM and Delco parts for almost everything that has been done to this car, especially in recent years. The car is currently in North Carolina along with the original wheels (which have new tires on them).
Here is a list of what has been repaired/replaced thus far.
1) 1994 suspension parts with larger roll bar and springs2) Front and rear disc brakes3) Parking brake cable4) Hub sensors5) Rear calipers6) New Tires (both sets of wheels)7) Intake Manifold Gaskets8 ) Clutch Master cylinder (recently replaced)9) Clutch Slave cylinder (recently replaced)10) Clutch disc (recently replaced)11) Clutch pressure plate (recently replaced)12) Clutch throw out bearing (recently replaced)13) Shift cable bushings14) Brake switch15) Driver and Passenger Metal wraparaound window moldings16) Side Mirrors17) Dual Flowmaster 3 chamber mufflers18 ) Free flow catalytic converter19) Custom dual exhaust work with resonator to get rid of "tinny" sound and bowtie tips20) Platinum plugs21) Plug wires22) Hypertech chip23) K&N permanent filter24) Rear stripe
The clutch parts are factory...including the pressure plate and disc...which were next to impossible to find. There are challenges with shifting 1st to 2nd gear, but there is enough torque that can be worked around. The new owner would want this to be looked into. Because I am out of state I have not been able to get that fixed. I did pay for the extended powertrain warranty which is good until the middle of next month. What the car really needs most right now is new carpet and a good paint job due to de-lamination, especially on the horizontals. The cheap tint someone else put on the windows is also peeling and needs to be replaced, and the door handles need replacing.
If circumstances were different and I had a place to continue storing it and working on it I would not be selling, but the time has come to make major changes in my life...and this is one of them. I have owned both the automatic and manual transmissions of this car, and I can tell you that it is a lot of fun to drive. Ideally it would go to a real car enthusiast would value it for the rare car it is, continue to make sure that all mechanical stuff is fixed, and would love to give it a new paint job and get it ready to show.
I am selling this vehicle in as-is condition (with the complete set of original wheels that also have new tires on them). Thank you for bidding.
