Thanks for taking the time to check out this NO RESERVE auction on my 1966 C10 factory short bed stepside pickup I call "DORIS". About a year ago, a friend of mine ran across this in a barn near his home in the Willamette Valley areaof Oregon. He knew I had been looking for this vintage of truck with a stepside bed for a long time. He told me what a solid, complete, original truck it was. He gave me the owner's contact information and on the field trip I went to check this one out. The truck was everything I was looking for so after looking at it, a deal was struck. I was planning on building the truck with a modern GM LS motor swapwith newer drivetrain and updating the suspension, brakes, tires and wheels. I wanted the patina look and this one has greatpatina character butreally is pretty solid throughout. Most of thetypical rust is minor surface and would workreally well for this type of build. Well, long story short, life happened and I am not able to build this truck at this time. Ihave to put thisidea on hold for a while andwanted to give someone an opportunity to make their dream truck a reality.
The previous owner stated that Doris was parkedin the barn due to lack of usesometime in the 1990's. It ran anddrove when it was parked. I was planning on doing amodern drivetrain swap, so I really didn't spend mucheffort on the motor's running condition asI plannedonnot using it. That being said, the motor does turn freely and I would assume that it would run with fresh fluids, fuel, a little time, and some tune up parts. The tires are just rollers, and I would recommend replacing them as well as inspecting safety items like brakes etc. before putting it safely on the road. It has been sitting since the 90's
It is amazing how hard it is to find a complete, original, factory stepside in this vintage. This truck is exactly that. Overall, the truck is pretty solid. The rocker panels are solid. The kick panels are solid. It does have typical minor rust issues in a few spots that will need attention. The passenger side floor and fender will need some rust repair work performed, (see close up pictures detailing this) but overall the rest of the truck is pretty solidand cosmetic flaws are mainly surface rust.
The paint reflects many years of beautiful aged patina thatclassic car builderstry to duplicate. Nothing compares to the original character that takes lots of years to "earn it". The body has some dings and dents, but nothing major as shown in the pictures below.
The interior is original and pretty much intact. I have never had it running, so I am not sure of gauges and lights operational condition. The odometer currently reads 16,211 and is a 5 digit odometer that I believe has exceeded the 99,999 mechanical limit. There is a rust hole on the passenger floorboard as mentioned before, but overall the interior is in good original condition. Clean up and use as is with the patina look, or reupholster the seat and put shiny paint inside. There really are endless options to fit your liking, skill set and budget.
This is a survivor "barn find" truck that is very original throughout. This makes it what I would call an open canvas. You could either go with the patina look and just get it running and driving, would be a great solid candidate for full on restoration, resto-mod style thatI was planning,or anything in between. The options are as wide open as your imagination will allow.
I have done my best to describe Doris so you can understand what you are bidding on. She is a rare factory original short bed stepside 2wd pickup in unrestored but well preserved, solid, original condition. An "open canvas" if you will. For a 51 year old pickup bearing years of natural aged patina, you just can't replicate it! Borrow your kid's iphone and I would be happy to facetime a walk around on Doris or answer any questions you might have. Please study the pictures and ask any/all questions prior to placing a bid. I would be willing to help arrange shipping, have used a company in the past with great rates and results. Remember this is a NO RESERVE auction that will sell to the highest bidder. Good luck and happy bidding! Winning bidder to contact seller and pay deposit of $1000 within 24 hours of auction through paypal, wire transfer, or in person. Remaining balance due within 72 hours of auction end by wire transfer, in person, or cashier's check. Upon receiving full payment, I will send the winning bidder the title and bill of sale. The title is not in my name as I never had it on the road running and driving, but it is a Clean Oregon title properly released by the previous owner and will also come with a bill of sale ready for you to register in your name.
