I have been admiring this 1975 Blazer for many years. It was owned by a gentleman named Dennis who lives a few miles from my house, and it has always caught my eye when I drove by it. It was alwaysreally clean parked in his driveway under the carport. You just don't run across many of these that have been loved and pampered like this one has. Dennis bought this in 1976 and has loved this rig likea memberof the family. The opportunity arose to pick this up from him and I did not hesitate.
Pictures don't do it proper justice is often said, but on this K5 Blazer, I believe that to be exactly the case. The "square body Blazer" was made for quite a few years but only came with the full removable top from the windshield back for 3 years. (1973,1974, and 1975) This makes the early years the most desirable and highly sought after.
I can not express how difficult it is to find this vintage of Blazer this solid and rust free. This is atrue time capsulevehicle that has always been in Oregon. We have very mild weather here and our roads are not subjected to salt in the winter. This makes Oregon classics a great option for finding some of the best solid classic cars.
This Blazer is aSURVIVOR vehicle that has been loved and very well preserved over the years.Dennis bought thisin 1976 andassures me that the odometer reading of 98,XXX is the original miles. Judging by the condition of the rig, I have no reason to not believe him.
The body on this Blazer is extremely straight and solid. This is the original color combination, which I absolutely love because it is not very common. It has been repainted the original colors sometime back and looks to be a quality job.Dennis informed meit received a new coat of paint sometime in the early 1990's. The firewall still bears original factory paint.New topand body seals were applied when it was painted but the door seals are original. Overall, the paint and body are very nice with only minor imperfections, and I have documented anything I could see with photographs. I have foundvery fewsmall imperfections, VERY NICE ALL OVER!
I have taken a lot of time to inspect known trouble spots common to this vintage Blazer. The rocker panels are solid and rust free which is hard to find. The door jambs and lower door/kick panel area are rust free. The fender wells and quarters on this are amazing - rust free. The tailgate does not have the typical stress marks or tears from a spare tire carrier. This one never had one and so the tailgate is PERFECT! The rear window goes up and down properly, a common problem area. Not a problem on this one, tailgate cosmetics and function is perfect! The top is in outstanding shape and does not have the stress cracks that most of these have. All of the glass is in great shape, no cracks or major chips, scratches etc.
The interior is absolutely wonderful! The best way I can describe the layout, it is like hopping in to a time capsule. The period correct diamond tuck interior, sun-tachometer, along with the cassette player and graphic equalizer reminds you of the good old days. The original dash pad is in great shape, free from cracks and shows very well. The trim pieces are all there and in great appearance. It was reupholstered many years ago in "diamond tuck " style and fits this rig great. All of the carpet, upholstery, and other interior appointments are in great shape. (no rips, tears, smells, or stains)The interior shows as new condition with no wear, but isdecades old.Thismakes itmore of a time capsule, a well preserved classic that bears popular amenities of their time.Lots of these small custom touches that scream vintage, yet are so fitting and appropriate on this rig.
All of the gauges work as they should. The speedometer works, the fuel gauge works, the tachometer works, the stereo works, the windshield wipers work, the low/high beams work, the turn signals work, amazing working order throughout. ALL of the instrument cluster, dome, and accessory lights work properly. I am absolutely amazed thatall of the dome and convenience lights work, pretty rare on a vintage hard top convertible. This is road ready for you to drive today! EVERYTHING WORKS!
How does it run and drive you ask? One word- AWESOME! It has a mild small block 350 V8 engine with a few goodies and dress up parts. The engine runs really strong and sounds great! Very smooth running with no visible leaks or strange sounds of any kind. The transmission is an automatic and shifts decisively into each gear as it should. The 4x4 transfer case shifts into each position correctly and the 4wd works great. Please note it even still has the auto locking hubs that were correct on this vehicle when new and they work great.
The Blazer drives every bit as good as it looks. I always give myself 15 extra minutes to run an errand in this just because I know wherever I park, someone will comment how nice it is or ask about it. Lots of thumbs up! The 15 minutes extra is never quite enough, because I find myself taking the long way home for an excuse to drive this a little bit more. This drives very straight and true, doesn't wander like a lot of them do. Accelerates nicely with a mild, but strong, V8 tone to the exhaust. The brakes stop straight, no pull to either side, and have good stopping power. (firm reliable brake pedal feel, no rotor hop, etc.) The suspension absorbs bumps in the road well and everything feels tight and predictable. This has a really nice smooth ride for a classic truck at cruising speeds.
No amount of words could give this rig the justice it deserves and they say a picture is worth a thousand words. If that is true, then the large group of photographs of this Blazer is worth uncountable words! I have tried to get lots of close ups, angles for you to inspect and see how nice this Blazer is. That being said, this is a 42 year old classic vehicle and will not be the same as a 2018 Corolla at the Toyota dealer. Please study the pictures and I would be happy to answer any questions you might have. Heck, borrow your kid's iphone and I could facetime a walk around on this. That way you can see and hear it on video! Highest bidder gets this EXCEPTIONALLY NICE RARE BLAZER and will be a lucky new owner. Don't miss this opportunity and happy bidding!
