1964 Chevrolet Corvair greenbrier Additional Info:
Today, we offer you a possible part of the 1980's era grateful dead history. We do not know that for certain, have just been contacted by few people who remembered a van like this on the lot.. I am not sure what on the lot means, I was told they might have sold flowers or something out of it. THis is just information I am sharing because it is neat that this van might be famous in a fun way.. They said they remembered it from the Midwest area of the country, I have no way to verify any of that, Currently the van has a clear Ohio Title.. So aside from its possible notoriety, she is awesome!!!! The van is powered by a air cooled 6 cyl with the corvair version of a 2 speed powerglide.. The van fires right up, does, not smoke, runs quiet.. I was told by a Corvair person that the van has a 62 or 3 car engine as the dipstick points a different way than the bus engine.. After running, there was a drop or 2 of oil, but the engine and everything is just so clean, it has been well taken care of.. The body is an 8 door version, just an option maybe, but an option that was nt chosen very often, so this is one of few, and definitely the only one with this paint job on the planet. The vintage aluminum slots are in nice shape, the tires have great tread and seem to be pretty darn nice, the wheels have centercaps and the bullet style lugnuts, these need cleaned up, minor oxidation for being old n stuff. . The van looks pretty complete, it needs a drivers side side door outer handle.. The drivers side rear interior panel is included, the material is good, the board needs replaced, I just have not done that. The brown seat is out of a 1965 I was told, it is not bolted down at the moment.. Underneath of the blue indoor carpet appears to be a vinyl mat that looks the same as what is in the front.. The van appears to have NEVER had previous bodywork.. There is some small rust areas in the corners, 2 of the underbody braces, the thin metal ones, they need a cap, and the interior step part on both sides needs some new metal. Structurally, this thing is super solid, The only issue i see drivewise is when you apply the brakes the fuse blows, I cleaned out the taillamp housings and put new bulbs, still blew fuse, so I may or may not have this issue fixed.. I have driven the van around the neighborhood, she is not a powerhouse, but for a cool cruiser, wow.. I do not know how the heat works, but i do see levers and switches.. All doors work good, everything shuts well, all the door glasses roll up and down, all the trim pieces are in pretty good shape. The interior is all there, a few wear spots n edges, the front seats, has split seams.. But other than the awesome paint job and the wheels, and possible car engine, this is a survivor.. All of the glass is good and super clean, the trim is pretty darn nice, there is a little dent in the drivers side od the rear of the body, and likely a lil one at least somewhere else.. I don't think the repair work on the metal, would amount to much at all.. I got this with the intentions of doing a minor restore on it, but with the rarity, I thought somebody might want to take it back to original, or somebody that remembers it or just digs it the way it is, might want it just as is.. I am not going to deliver it, I am not accepting bank notes or checks or any of that business.. I am not a corvair expert, but I do love old cars, and this thing just feels good all around, ya know.. The thing steers, goes and stops, you push the brake and the fuse is blowing, but the brakes work, which is always a plus.. I am asking a bit, but she is rare, and she is the only one like her on the planet.. Ill be happy to work with a shipper..This is an old van, it will be as is, but she really is super solid.. Any questions, feel free to ask.. If there was a car show today, i would not hesitate to take it, she has a few rust spots and the paint looks better form 10 feet, but this is the coolest!! If she does'nt sell I may redo it, but i feel it may be important to somebody just the way it is, so here we go, if nothing else, enjoy the pics! I have best offe, but that means reasonable, I might take a street rod in, but it would have to come to me, so cash is king. It is not advertised locally, but a few people have stopped by anyways, so if ya want it holler, only one like it on the planet, and it runs good, have fun! The apint and trim codes are 5Z60KD and 5510AA
