With a very thorough and detailed restoration documented by build receipts and restoration photos still so recent you could practically see it in this classic's rearview mirror, this 1966 Chevrolet C10 is a veritable category-killer. Equal parts show and go, it combines a seriously eye-catching appearance still respectful of its work truck heritage with a whole host of mechanical upgrades. Simply put, it's as impressive an example of a 60's era Chevy truck as you're likely to find.
A good deal of care was obviously taken with its restoration, bringing the original aesthetics of this truck into the present day in a manner its original builders would likely have approved of. The red paint job is plenty flashy, yet you can easily picture it being the shade the C10 rolled off the line with as a sort of deluxe upgrade. It looks great from all angles, with a very convincing and deep shine, and it's accented by clean chrome everywhere you look including the front and back bumpers, the expansive front grille, the light bezels both fore and aft and the trim that runs the length of its sides. Both the front and back windshields are sporting new rubber seals, as well. It's just a great looking classic truck all the way around. Its ever so inclined stance looks just right enough modification to underscore the notion that this truck has received the attention it deserves, while still maintaining a very appropriate look for a model originally intended to be a working truck.
The plushly-padded black leather bench seat is probably the first thing you'll notice when you look inside. It looks practically unused, with no wrinkles or indentations visible. Having logged not even 2,000 miles since being restored certainly has its advantages. Turning your attention forward, you'll see a totally reworked dash area that features the original configuration restored to a pristine gold and black hue and aftermarket gauges seamlessly installed in place of their factory counterparts. With the gauges' red illumination and dimensions perfectly suited to the cluster area they occupy, this is definitely an inspired upgrade. Occupying the front and center position is an AM/FM stereo with a perfect era-appropriate look, its signature Chevy bowtie prominently displayed. A modern climate control system has been installed and, with its output being delivered by no less than four well-placed registers under the dash, maintaining a comfortable temperature inside will be no problem at all. The wood lining the bed area appears splinter free, with clean, flush boards showing through the steel ribbing between them.
Under the hood, a Chevy 350V8 crate engine sits in place of the inline 6 this C10 started out with. Bolted to a modern Chevy 4 speed automatic transmission, it fires right up, idles smoothly and, equipped with a Holley 4 barrel carb and GM performance intake, offers immeasurably better performance than its predecessor. It sits in an engine compartment that reflects the same high standards as the rest of the truck: new looking components and fresh hoses and wires against the shiny, wet-look backdrop of the red firewall. The undercarriage is nice and straight, with fresh suspension components, a Ford 9" and frame rails. Equipped with both power steering and power brakes (discs in front), this truly classic truck is plenty navigable in real world driving conditions on those occasions you're not showing it off, and it sits on a set of 17" American Racing ATX wheels, wrapped in Michelin black walled radials.
