CRUISIN CLASSICS has come across a very rare and very cool car that has it's place in the CC Hall of Fame. This is one of the most rare specialty car EVER built. It is a 1 of 1, 1987 Traco/Guldstrand Chevrolet Corvette GS 80 roadster. Corvette experts will remember that Roger Penske and Chevrolet contracted suspension guru Dick Guldstrand and the performance wizards at Traco Racing Engines to develop the now priceless 6 original Grand Sport Corvettes. This particular Corvette was purposely built in 1988 to be the fastest Corvette Convertible in the world. Road & Track Magazine featured The Worlds Fastest Street Car Shootout in 1988 and NASCAR driver Ricky Rudd pushed this car to 172 miles per hour at the TRC Test Track in Ohio. This car was driven to and from the track that very day. It is an incredible car throughout and can be driven anywhere. ZF 6 speed transmission, McLeod "Street Twin" dual disc clutch with aluminum flywheel, oil cooler, 500 watt stereo, cruise control and of course....A/C. You have to have A/C in a car that goes 172mph. Just Sayin'.
With even more history here, it would be a great addition to any Performance, Corvette collection. All documents and receipts included. The engine alone...$27,000!!!
There were only 2 of these prototype engines ever built by Jim Jones at Traco. Alex Van Halen of the rock band Van Halen had the other. This alone is very cool. With all of the "cookie cutter" Corvettes around it can get a little boring. This is absolutely NOT your typical 'Vette. There is a very good possibility that you will NEVER see another one like yours...EVER.
