Relisting because winning bidder did not have the funds. Please have funds and permission from wife/girlfriend before making an offer!
Custom 1953 Chevy Bel Air 2-door sedan (post). This is a custom build that has taken over a year to build. Starting with a perfect patina body that took almost 5 months to find. The car came out of the dry desert of New Mexico and has zero body filler anywhere. The car was repainted years ago and has been sitting outside getting sun-kissed for over a decade. All of the original trim, moldings, bezels, etc. are original and intact…Incredible true patina that is balance throughout the entire body with plenty of color…no faux patina paint job here!
This car lays on its rockers (not just the frame) which requires extensive frame modifications to achieve.
Build specs:
Frame-off build with extensive frame modifications. Fatman Ulta low Mustang II front suspension with disc brakes, rack and pinion, custom steering shaft and stainless steel u-joints and 2.5” drop spindles. Custom K-member for trans and duel master cylinder (kept in stock location). Frame was then scraped 1.5” to raise the ground clearance just above the rockers. Finally a Gambinos Kustom tail Dragger 4 triangulated 4 link was installed. Custom 2 piece drive line that allows for minimal cutting of the tunnel…modification to the tunnel was only needed at the rear of the floor and the rear seat has been modified to fit and look totally stock. Wheel wells are raised 3.5 inches and all sheet metal has been welded and seam sealed. Engine and transmission were raised almost 2” for clearance as well.
Slam Specialties’ air bags are on all four corners and are managed by Accuair 4VU air management system.
20 inch Detroit Steel wheels with white wall tires gives it total style.
Keeping this car original looking and true to itself, I installed a 1959 235 high pressure 6-cyl engine and open drive 3-speed with column shift (3 on the tree)…the new generation has no idea what they are looking at and the old generation loves the originality. Engine and engine bay are rusty and has great patina as well. Engine starts, idles and runs very well, but does smoke a little. Custom exhaust that runs all the way to the back and does not hit the floors or the ground. 1957 Chevy rear axle with drum brakes. 12 volt conversion with 3 wire alternator.
All new brakes, calipers, lines, hoses, bearings, seals, tie rods, control arms, bushings etc
Complete custom interior from Cidellas: headliner, wind lace, new door sills, carpet, new front and back seat foam, covers and door panels. Interior is a mix of dark and light blue and retains the old patina dash, garnish moldings, arm rests, etc. Front bench seat surrounds are upholstered and in the vehicle even though they are not shown in the pictures.
This car is a real head turner and draws a crowd and questions where ever it goes…cruising or laying on its rockers,
This car has been professionally built and meticulously thought out to be a true one off custom that will be the only one like it at any show. Extensive fabrication and engineering has gone into this vehicle. It drives very smooth and easily…don’t let the 3 on the tree scare you.
