1968 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu chrome Additional Info:
General Motors had one of its longest running successes with the Chevrolet Malibu. In 1955 they introduced the small-block V-8, an engine that allowed innumerable variations. The4-barrel carburetor equippedversion was sneaky. If the driver applies the gas gently, the 2-speed Power Glide transmission shifts at 16 miles-an-hour without any sense of having done so. However, "putting it to the floor" produces 0 - 60 acceleration off the charts. Adding to the mystique of these handsome family-wide darlings was the wide selection of body styles and colors. This one, two-tone Ash Gold Irid and Palomino Ivory, is emblematic of the sophistication of the era's car-buying public. How many makers come anywhere near that today? Put these qualities together with the upgrading of safety features added during the restoration and you have a contemporary gem with all the delightful qualities of a truly classic American automobile. The car has its factory release papers, matching numbers for California delivery. The restoration is an immaculate, Dave West (Kerrville, Texas) frame-off done from 6/5/99 - 12/19/00; 1,700 post restoration miles - stored in climate controlled suburban NY garage. Two-speed Power Glide console operated shift, bucket seats with head-rests, full seat belts. Factory air conditioning, GM "posi-traction" rear-end, front disc power brakes, speed warning device and consul-mountedelectric clockbalancing the speedometer mount over the steering column. Restoration added a discreet dual exhaust, front suspension "H" stabilizers for strict front-end vertical wheel alignment, and internal hood latch and owner-operated kill switch (theft deterrent), intermittent wipers, state-of-the-art stereo with cassette player, front and rear speakers. The original AM/FM radio, manuals, maintenance records and a new, custom fit padded cover are included.
