THIS APACHE HAS BEEN COMPLETELY RESTORED & IS IN SHOW CONDITION. THE BUILD WAS A COMPLETE BODY OFF PROFESSIONAL RESTORATION. THE TRUCK WAS TOTALLY DISMANTLED. THE BODY & FRAME WERE SANDBLASTED. THE FRAME WAS PAINTED WITH POR 15. THE BODY WAS PROFESSIONLY RESTORED & PAINTED USING ALL OF THE ORIGINAL GM PARTS. THE DRIVE TRAIN & BRAKES WERE INSPECTED & THE U JOINTS, BRAKE SHOES & BRAKE SPRINGS WERE REPLACED. ALL OF THE RUBBER, FELT, WIRE, NUTS & BOLTS WERE REPLACED WITH NEW. THE BUMPERS & GRILL WERE RECHROMED. ALL NEW GLASS & A COMPLETELY RESTORED INTERIOR. A NEW RED OAK BED. IT WAS THEN, PAINSTAKING REASSEMBLED & RESTORED INTO SHOW QUALITY. THE RESTORATION WAS COMPLETED IN 2015 & HAS ONLY BEEN DRIVEN TO CAR SHOWS SINCE. IT TAKES TROPHIES AT EVERY SHOW WE ENTER IT IN.
THIS IS ONE OF ABOUT 500 NAPCO'S PRODUCED IN 1959 WITH THE FACTORY 4X4 CONVERSION, HERE IS HOW YOU CAN TELL THE FACTORY ONE APART FROM A DEALER INSTALLED ONE;FIRST THE TRIM TAG WOULD HAVE HAD A GVW OF 7300 LBSINSTEAD OF THE 6900 LBS, SECOND THE CROSSMEMBER THAT HOLDS THE TRANSFER CASE IS RIVETED INSTEAD OF BOLTS & THIRD THE NAPCO EMBLEMS WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ON THE TRUCK. THIS TRUCK IS 100% ORIGINAL, EXCEPT FOR THE TIRES, WHEELS, ENGINE & GAS TANK. THE GAS TANK WAS MOVED OUT OF THE CAB & INSTALLED IN THE BED. THE ENGINE WOULD HAVE BEEN AN INLINE SIX CYLINDER 235 CI TRIFT MASTER, IT HAS A STRONG 327 V8 VETTE ENGINE CASTING CODE 3782870 THAT HAS BEEN UPGRADED WITH AN HEI AND AN ALTENATOR. IT HAS THE ORIGINAL TRANSMISSION, NAPCO TRANSFER CASE & NAPCO DIFFERENCIALS. EVEN THE RADIATOR IS THE ORIGINAL. THE TRUCK COLOR IS FOREST GREEN – GM PAINT CODE WA387E. THIS TRUCK WAS BORN IN OAKLAND CALIFORNIA AND SPENT MOST OF HER LIFE IN THE PACIFIC NORTH WEST. I PURCAHESD THIS TRUCK IN VANCOUVER WASHINGTON. I WAS TOLD BY THE PREVOUIS OWNER THAT IT WAS PURCHASED NEW BY THE NORTHERN PACIFIC RAILROAD. AFTER ABOUT 20 YEARS OF SERVICE WAS AUCTIONED OFF TO AN OLD TIMER, WHO RARELY DROVE IT. THE THIRD OWNER PUT THE 327 IN IT & TRIED TO RESTORE IT. I BOUGHT FROM THE THIRD OWNER IN 2011 & IT TOOK ME FOUR YEARS TO COMPLETE THE RESTORATION. MAKE NO MISTAKE ABOUT - IT IS AN EXTREMELY RARE & HIGHLY SOUGHT AFTER 1959 CHEVROLET (APACHE) FACTORY NAPCO. BASICALLY THIS IS THE HOLY GRAIL OF COLLECTOR TRUCKS.
