Selling a HARD TO FIND/RARE 1955 Chevy Sedan Delivery WITH WINDOWS. THIS IS NOT A HANDYMAN WAGON!!!!
These were made for the government. No definite number on how many made but number is low. This was purchased from a government auction in California.
Has not seen any Midwest winters.
This one has the federal ID # stamped on VIN tag with VIN#. It has a bench seat but originally came with 2 bucket seats. Previous owner was able to track
down a set of original seats, then had all seats and door panels recovered. The original interior color was brown and beige/tan with a straw design. I think this
is as close as they could get it. Driver’s seat comes with a track and passenger seat flips forward (see Pictures), which is also original for car. They just need
to be installed.
It has a one piece tailgate with the original lift gate supports. I have been told that these are not reproduced and special to this car. They are longer so you
don’t hit your head on the lift gate. Also with this style you have to lift up on lift gate to release spring inside to shut gate. They have some surface rust on
the chrome but are in perfect working order. Newer front and rear bumpers, very nice.
The original motor and trans were removed and replaced with a 350 and T10 4 speed. It has 14” tires that are fairly new (10/32nds on rear and 9/32nds on
front, plenty of tread) and in very good condition. Front brakes have been updated to disc with a dual master cylinder. Still has original rear end and
suspension.
Windshield and seal was just replaced on 8-23-17. Gas tank has been replaced.
Interior trim in place and I don’t think has ever been removed. Is missing right side kick panel and knob for windshield wipers. Still has original plywood floor
with trim around it, which floor trim is almost impossible to find for these cars. There is no headliner but all bows are in place. I have replacement glass for
both doors. Have not had time to install.
There are a few very small holes in floor boards that can be easily fixed. That is the ONLY rust on car, very solid. Please see pictures.
Because these were government cars they came with very little options. This one came with a passenger seat, passenger visor and dome light activated by
headlight switch. That’s it. It is a radio delete car, still has delete cover. NO Backseat from factory, (in most states these are considered trucks), no trim.
Not sure if it is supposed to have hood ornament or not. Cigarette lighter was added at a later date. Heater is an ON/OFF knob with defroster run by lever.
See pictures. Front fender was replaced at some time and a power antenna was added, but no radio.
Car starts up without a problem. Have driven around yard and down road with no problems but have not driven more then a mile or so.
Purchased car to restore but way to many projects, not enough time in the day, and running out of room for storage so we need to pass it on to someone else
who has the time and room to finish it.
If you have any questions or would like more pictures please contact me. Vehicle is being sold AS IS AND HAS NO WARRANTY. I have described everything
about this vehicle to the best of my knowledge. Mileage is what the odometer shows, not sure of total.
