1965 Corvette ConvertibleRarely is it seen an unmolested, unrestored, highly optioned Corvette Convertible becomes available that remains in excellent cosmetic and mechanical condition.Well, here it is, a 1965 Corvette convertible adorned in the factory color code of (900MM) Milano Maroon resprayedand in fantastic condition with the one year only interior color combination color of burgundy. At a mere glance,with all the panel gaps as they should be, it's obvious this is a no hit body with all the body seams intact as theywere when this beautiful car left the assembly line on May 26th, 1965.
This Corvette is equipped with the original numbers matching 327ci 300 Hp engine and a close ratio Muncie 4 speedtransmission. Factory optioned and original A/C that still blows cold, power steering, power brakes including the original cast iron master cylinder (a rarity) and power windows along with the teak steering wheel option and AM/FM radio. Still retaining its original and correctly dated open 3:36 differential, it cruises nicely at highway speeds.
This is an exceptional, well maintained and mostly unrestored, highly optioned Corvette Convertible with restorationperformed as needed. With the exception of new correct replacement carpet, the interior is original and also includesthe correct jack and handle. And yes, the correct and properly dated power antenna works perfectly!
Under the Hood:The car retains the original numbers matching 327ci / 300hp engine, 4 speed close ratio Muncie transmission ( Note:the car left the factory with a 2 speed powerglide transmission as noted by the "HR" engine stamp and has been upgraded to a 4 speed), correct and properly dated Dewitts replacement radiator, all the correct ignition shielding,hoses, clamps, etc. Windshield washers work as they should. The engine runs smoothly, quietly and doesn't smokeand the transmission shifts as it should. The engine currently has finned aluminum valve covers not original tothis engine. The original steel valve covers come with the car.
INTERIOR:With the exception of replacement carpet, the burgundy interior is original to the car and in super condition, all the gauges work correctly, optional teak steering wheel, original dash pads are in very nice condition, power windows function perfectly, the AM/FM radio has been restored and works as it should. Door locks are keyed correctly andwork smoothly. The white soft top is in perfect condition. Seat belts are correct and near perfect.
EXTERIOR:The general overall appearance of the exterior is very nice with no noticeable stress cracks in the fiberglass. Thedoors open and close without issue with no sagging, locks work correctly and are keyed properly, chrome and repaintare in superb condition, panel gaps are as they should be and bonding strips are intact as they were when the car was built. The original steel wheels come with the car and can be seen in the pics shown with the correct 1965 hub caps.Spare tire is present as is the correct tire tub lock and rubber cover and is also keyed correctly.
