1955 Chevrolet Bel Air restored 283 with Tripower

Beautiful red over black 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air 4 door sedan. The restoration on this car was completed over 25 years ago and the car has not been driven on the road for the last 18 years. The 283 (1957 vintage) engine was completely rebuilt with new components. Block is .060 over crank was turned .010/.010. The engine was topped off with three 2 barrel carbs on an Offy intake with progressive linkage. The set up was done correctly with new secondary bases on the front and rear carbs so that it runs only on the center carb until you step on it...then you better hang on! It has an original three speed on the column with 3.70 gears in the rear. The interior was completely replaced with custom black gray cloth and still presents as near new condition. All chrome was either replaced or replated. Windshield is new aftermarket, but all of the rest of the glass is original tinted GM E-Z-Eye and is in good condition. Frame was repainted black and the under side of the body was undercoated. The car runs and drives great, but because it sat for years it does need some attention. The tires are not road worthy; they have plenty of tread, but the side walls have significant cracking. In a few areas the red paint has started to peel and has been touched up...I tried to show this in the pictures. The tailpipes near the back have some rust through. Speedometer does not work and neither does the radio. There are a few small spots on the bumpers where the chrome is starting to peel. The car runs, drives, steers, and brakes like it should, but I would certainly encourage the new owner to perform a safety check on all systems before embarking on a journey with the car. This is a great car that overall needs very little and then can be driven and enjoyed while taking care of the cosmetics.
