1978 Corvette 25th Anniversary Indy 500 Clone

1978 Chevrolet Corvette L82/pace car Additional Info:

I have a 1978 Corvette 25th anniversary addition L82 car that has been turned into an Indianapolis 500 pace car. The Corvette was converted to a pace car sometime in the late 1980s or 1990s. The conversion to a pace car was a decent job. The car is a real L82 version with the 350 and automatic transmission. The car runs and drives very nicely but does show some fading on the paint and general wear for a car this old.
Recently the car has had a valve job, new lifters, complete tuneup with plugs and wires, upgraded to an HEI distributor, complete carburetor rebuild, Serpentine belt system and electric fans, complete new rear disc brakes.
The car needs the air-conditioning charged, headlights work intermittently, and one of the T tops needs to be reglued to its frame
The car is California smog legal and runs very nicely. The transmission shifts nice and firm and it drives straight down the road. The car has never been wrecked and all of the jams line up as they should. The Corvette looks great from the 10 foot range but when you get closer you can see some of the minor flaws in the paint and body. It would make a great driver or one to take to a car show.
