Cars like this 1972 Chevrolet Chevelle SS396 ragtop never go out of style. And this is a really nice car with great paint, a big block engine, and an awesome look. Unusual code 11 Antique White with black stripes is an unusual combination that looks great, and this car is straight enough to show it off with pride. The paint is pretty fresh and has that deep, wet shine that comes from modern two-stage urethane, and it hasn't been driven much since it was completed, either. Nice bodywork emphasizes the crease that runs along the body and makes the fenders look especially aggressive, and you can't have a car like this without a cowl-induction hood. Hard to say if it's a real SS, but at this point it doesn't really matter, does it? You're not looking at this car because it's an investment. No, you're looking at it because it looks nasty and someone's already done all the hard work for you. There's a proper blacked-out grille up front, reproduction SS badges all around, and shiny chrome bumpers that look great against the bright white paint. If you want a grown-up's muscle car, this might be it.Black buckets, a 4-speed, and a few nice options make this Chevelle an easy sell, too. The upholstery appears fairly recent and uses factory patterns and materials for an authentic look. It also got new door panels and fresh carpets along the way, and that Hurst shifter sticking out of the floor will always look butch. The instrument panel uses correct round-faced gauges, including a factory tach with a correct 5000 RPM redline, again making the case that this is a real-deal SS. Options include factory A/C (needs to be serviced), a power convertible top, and an AM/FM radio that's been augmented with a big amplifier and subwoofer in the trunk. With this car, you also get a neatly finished trunk with custom enclosure and full-sized spare, and the black power convertible top is in excellent condition.GM still called it a 396, but the big block under the hood of this Chevelle is actually a date code correct 402 cubic inch mill that's been rebuilt and nicely detailed to show off. It's pretty tame, so it is very user-friendly on the street, but the Edelbrock carb adds instantaneous throttle response at just about any speed. Chevy Orange paint looks great against the black engine bay and a few chrome pieces make it truly shine. Other new parts include the alternator, power brake booster and master cylinder, and all the hoses and belts. Long-tube headers bolster an already pretty fat torque curve and dump into a Flowmaster exhaust system that sounds great. The aforementioned 4-speed manual gearbox feeds a rugged 12-bolt rear end that looks brand new and there are air shocks to help control the attitude. For the price, you'll be pleased with how tidy it is underneath and it sits right on factory SS wheels with 245/60/15 BFGoodrich T/A radials. This Chevelle has got the look and the hardware to back it up. It's easy to see why they sell so quickly, so if you like this one, don't hesitate, call today!
