Up for auction is a very honest investment quality 57 Chevrolet 2 door hard top. This car has had the same owner for over 25 years. It has spent its life in Southern Virginia and has been garage kept. It is a honest, original unrestored, survivor quality car.
With in the last year the car has been gone through, serviced, had a new fuel tank, new tires and all brakes have been checked and the car was recently gone over and serviced to ensure safety and dependability. This car is a real joy to drive. It hits the road very pleasant and is smooth and can be driven. All lights, wipers, signals, horn, interior lights work properly. Upon our inspection here is what we have found to NOT be in proper working order, Radio, fuel gauge and clock.
This 57 had a one time repaint in its original color sometime in the very early 80's approx 1983. Giving the age of the paint and the fact that white is a very forgiving color The paint shows very nice but understandably does show age. Inside under florescent light or under a real close examination you will find the typical "laquer checks" (fine cracks) and a few chips that have been touched up over the years.
However he paint has integrity for its age and is slick and very straight. Outside/inside from as close as 3 foot away it looks like an amazing show quality finish, but as mentioned upon close...real close examination it does have flaws. Would I ever repaint the car?? Absolutely NOT! It looks to good and has to much integrity and even with given its aged flaws is still a better quality paint job than 50% of the classic cars I've seen. The flaws were even hard for the camera to pick up as well, So we have made a close walk around video to show some of its age and to help you make your decision. All of the body panels are original and NOT patched up! The fit and body lines/gaps are excellent! This car is extremely SOLID! All quarters, frame, trunk, floors, body supports are SOLID! All chrome, glass, stainless, bezels, emblems, hubcaps etc was told to us and believed by us to be original and is in amazing condition! It is all bright shining straight and shows extremely well.
The interior is all original and shows its age with integrity as well! It is clean throughout and shows nicely. It understandably shows fading and a few of the stitches are working loose at the seems. (See pics)
The drivetrain is the original 283 with all correct components attached to a powerglide automatic transmission and factory rear end (Approx 3:08 ratio) Also equipped with rare factory power steering!! She starts with the bump of the key and idles smooth and silently. Rides, drives and handle like a dream! We were told the engine/trans was rebuilt sometime in the mid 2000's and has had only a handful of miles placed on her since. It has NO known mechanical problems. It has NO major oil leaks, typical of ALL old cars when it sets in the building for a few weeks or more you'll find a spot of oil about the size of a quarter, Other than that shes ready to drive show and enjoy!!!
Look at the pics, watch the video or come inspect this car for yourself, If you get here and find this car is not what you expected or find anything you don't like you will NOT be obligated to purchase it! It's a true iconic American classic that's better than $$ in the bank!
