1964 Chevrolet Malibu Additional Info:

1964 ChevroletChevelleMalibu 4 Door 3 seat 8 Passenger Station Wagon. Desirable Mid size Compact Wagon with the Base V-8 and Factory 4 Speed.

The Chevelle was first introduced for model year 1964 as a mid-sized car to compete with the Ford Fairlane, and made its debut with a range of options and body styles.

It was an instant success with GM producing 328,400 its first year.

The 300 was the Chevelle base model and included a two-door station wagon and a 2-door sedan.

The Malibu was a step up from the 300 and offered more options. Interior upgrades with tailored fabrics and metallic thread accents were the main attraction for buyers. The Malibu could be had in sport coupe, convertible, 4-door sedan, 6-passenger and 3-seat wagon.

The Malibu SS served as the top-of-the-line Chevelle, but offered little in way of options. It could only be had in a V8, prohibiting it from being more of a muscle car competitor for this year. The SS came stock with special SS wheel covers and special trim. Later in the year saw the introduction of a 327ci/300hp V8 to better compete with the GTO and Torino.
