Painted Once it's Original Tripoli Turquoise...by looking,...I'd say 25 years ago? The paint is nice,...a Driver Quality....and with some scratches almost on every panel. Those have been touched up and you cannot tell from 2' away....but they're there nonetheless. I love the look of the car,...faults and all.
On the drivers side rear,...top of the quarter,...next to the deck lid,..the paint is faded. This area is the size of a McDonalds hamburger,....with cheese:) Please look at that photo.
I've had some seat time in it,....once I knew I liked it,...I took off on a cruise,...top down,...I hit the Highway and 65 was effortless.
Along the way,...I had more attention drawn to the car from the other motorists. This Malibu is still Beautiful and I would venture to say,...not one of the 15 or 20 people who were gawking noticed the scratches....not even at the stop lights. All this to say,...just because of it's imperfect paint, it does not detract from it's Premium Appeal. I love this car just like it is and I wouldn't paint it....patina is a good thing!
The Chrome is nice,...the grill insert & headlamp buckets are bright,...the windshield frame is beautiful and the glass is clean & clear.
The soft top is full color,..it seals tight,...it's nice.
The Malibu Stands Square on the Road....drives straight too....but we'll get to that.
Overall,...It really does look like it does in the photos,...very appealing and ready to enjoy just like it is.
Please look at the pictures and know it's like that great lookin' girl from high school that you see at the Reunion 30 years later,...she's still pretty,...but not 18 anymore,....but still hot:)!
The Interior.
Original Seating and door panels and dash....all look terrific. The carpet has been replaced....so it looks excellent too.
The seat is firm,...comfortable and supportive. The rearview mirror stays put,...the dash bezel is nice,...the A/C is cold,....the radio is Non-Op.
Overall,...an extremely nice original place to be seen,...top down,...cruising.
The Sheet Metal.
Nice gap lines,...doors close great as does the deck lid and hood.
The floors and frame are super nice,...as is the trunk floor. The trunk mat is the original,....it takes a long time to look like that,...it's survived very well but torn.
Notice the original spare tire and tools,...all preserved nicely and in place.
The metal is nice,...no matte where you look.
The Performance.
Well,...fly in and drive it home. I don't care if you live in Nova Scotia,...Panama or Maine,....this car will provide an excellent Ride & Drive experience for you and your passengers.
The 307 is tuned,..the throttle response is excellent,...the tranny shifts perfectly. I'd drive it anywhere at any time in total confidence. Yep....it's that nice.
In Closing.
We have a great opportunity for someone to enjoy the Malibu just as it is,...or an even more interesting chance to create a SS clone. I'd hate to see this car be anything but what it is,...but I also see great potential for an LSX - Pro-Touring car.
For those of you looking for a perfect paint convertible,..this is not it. For those of you who see imperfect as a badge of honor that comes with age,..this is it!
Schroeder Motors has been in business since this car was born. Over the last 50 years,..we have focused on Corvettes & Classics....this car we are very happy to have,...you will be happy too.
We are located 1 mile south of I-70 on Hwy. 94 in St. Charles, Missouri and only 10 minutes from the St. Louis International Airport. Fly in and drive it home!
