Stylemaster Coupe
"The 1946, 1947, and 1948 Chevrolet Stylemaster, Fleetmaster, and Fleetline were warmed-over versions of 1942 cars, but that hardly mattered to a car-hungry public. The 1946 Chevrolets began to roll off assembly lines on October 3, 1945, in minuscule numbers at first. There was a shortage of critical materials, notably sheet steel. Production had not yet resumed its normal pace when a United Auto Works strike was called on November 21. Assembly lines ground to a halt. Not until March 13, 1946, was the strike settled. Sixteen days later, Chevrolet became the first GM division to resume production. The 1946 Chevrolets began to roll off assembly lines on October 3, 1945, in minuscule numbers at first. For sale by owner is this great 1947 Chevy Stylemaster Coupe. Please let all the pictures load, (there are over 120) to see the excellent condition of this classic Chevy. This is one of the few cars that actually looks better in person, the paint is beautiful. Restored to stock condition and completed in 2012, it was previously owned by Gerry Sloan, a retired pro basketball player and acquired (in original condition) by the current owner in 1998. The odometer shows 69,000 miles, certified by a certificate from the State of Illinois. The 6 cylinder engine was pulled and serviced in 1999 along with the transmission and clutch. A new interior along with brakes, shocks, rebuilt radiator and water pump were installed in 2000. The bumpers and trim were rechomed and the all steel body was re-painted in 2012. The under carriage has also been restored. The lights, signals, horn, gauges, windows and heater are fully operational. The straight six engine starts right up, runs terrific and the 3-speed manual transmission shifts clean and easy. What follows are the details.
