This will be as close as you can get to a new 1970 Chevelle hardtop built to your specifications. The base built car included in the buy it now includes the specifications listed below. We are offering several add/deduct drivetrain options from the price as you can see below. Any questions feel free to email me. We have other Chevelle and GTO donor bodies available and also perform customer restorations as well. We specialize in restoring 70 to 72 Chevelles and 69 to 72 GTO’s. We have been building LS powered restomods for over 9 years.

The Body and Interior

It all started with an original 1970 Chevelle Hardtop. The car was all stripped to bare metal and media blasted. New quarters were installed along with a new super sport hood. Original GM fenders, doors and trunk lid were reused and all body panels were mocked up and fitted for high quality gaps and body lines. The car was broken down and installed on a rotisserie. The tub was blasted inside and out. A new tunnel was fabricated to accept the new T56 6 speed transmission. All panels were given meticulous body work until laser straight. The car will painted with a urethane base coat clear coat paint in the color of your choosing. All panels will be painted apart and the jambs inside the doors, fenders and trunk lid will be very nicely done with the highest of quality.

In the engine bay and firewall had its factory heater box holes welded closed then the firewall was worked with body filler and painted gloss urethane in body color for the smooth custom look. The inner wheel liners in the engine bay also received a fair amount of body work smoothed out and painted gloss body color as well to match the firewall.

Tires and wheels will be owners preference with a $3,000 budget. All new 6 piece glass package will be purchased (windshield, door, quarter and rear) in either smoked dark gray or factory soft ray tint.

The interior will be new from top to bottom with all newly reupholstered 70 factory bucket seats and covers. The interior has Dakota Digital gauge package in the original dash bezel openings for the factory look along with a Vintage AC and Heat factory fit system that bolts right in the factory dash location. The 6 speed Hurst Shifter pokes out of the interior console with Hurst short throw shifter handle and Chevrolet Performance black shifter ball. Finally a factory rebuilt tilt steering column adds to the comfort of adjusting the steering wheel where you would like it to be.

The Heart of the Car:

A brand new factory GM Performance LS3 crate engine will be purchased with factory installed “HOT CAM” producing 480 horsepower. These engines are incredible, if you want to drive slow they have super mild manners but as soon as you hit the accelerator it has brute big block style power…. they have good gas mileage (93 octane pump gas friendly), they fire up with the legendary fuel injection power….no messing with chokes, no messing with a carburetor, no messing with timing, no worries about the engine running hot in traffic…..these engines perform GREAT! We paint the intake plenum red to match the lettering on the factory Corvette engine covers and had a custom Chevelle decal made to cover the Corvette lettering on the covers. We added a front runner serpentine belt kit manufactured by Holley Performance giving you a stock GM look with brand new alternator, power steering pump and new Sanden Mini SD7 AC compressor. New aluminum radiator and electric fan along with a new Delco battery will finish off the engine bay.

Gear banging is super enjoyable with the new Tremec T56 6 speed manual transmission. First through fourth gears get right down to business with the 3.90 gears out back. Pop it into 5th and 6th overdrive gears for nice highway cruising at low RPM’s. The transmission handles 700 ft. lbs. of torque and shifts effortlessly with the new hydraulic clutch system.

New brake lines along with chrome smoothie master cylinder and brake booster was added. A new EFI gas tank with fuel pump and sender right inside the tank for low operating noise is used. New tubular control arms front and rear, shocks, bushings, ball joints and steering components were all added. The rear was disassembled and all new posi unit along with new 3.90 gears make up the rear differential. New beefy driveshaft was cut to length, balanced and out fitted with new U-joints. Finally wrapping up the underside is a new custom bent aluminized 2 ½ inch exhaust starting with a stainlesss set of shorty headers, custom H pipe, Turbo style mufflers and factory chrome SS Chevelle tips exit through the rear.

  • Change engine from GM Performance 6.2L 376 cubic inch LS3 480hp to a new 7.4L 454 cubic inch LSX 627hp GM Perfomance Crate engine – add $5,500

  • ORIGINAL LS6 ENGINE OPTION - Change engine from GM Performance 6.2L 376 cubic inch LS3 480hp and T56 Magnum 6 speed manual transmission to a completely rebuilt Vintage 454 450 horsepower LS6 engine with M22 Rockcrusher 4spd manual transmission. The engine will be a March 70 dated 4 bolt main 512 block with 291 square port heads and winter’s 569 aluminum low rise intake manifold. This LS6 option will give you a high quality original build with the following details – original OEM exhaust with resonators, smog system, 2 piece big block steering shaft, 6500 redline tachometer, spiral shocks, T3 headlights and polyglas bias ply tires. Most custom items in the build will be switched out with original reproduction parts (we will need to use a different donor car for this option and it will add 6 months to the completion date) – Same price

  • Detroit Speed 600 steering gear box ceramic coated – add $900

  • Change from a 70 Chevelle Hardtop Build to a 70 Chevelle Convertible Build (need to use a different donor car – chevelle convertible body in stock – this will add 6 months to the completion date of the build) – add $20,000
