1981 Chevrolet Camaro Additional Info:
Are you a business in the front party in the back kind of individual? Were you born and bread to bang your head to loud rock and roll? Up for auction is my 1981 camaro hair metal edition (not really a hair metal addition i just made that part up).In all seriousness I purchased this car from a friend of mine who had mechanically gone completely through it for a daily driver. He put 30,000 miles on it after the mechanical referb. until he bought a new truck and parked it for some time. I purchased it with the intentions of restoring it but have too many projects so must let this one go. It has a good running rebuilt 350 with a very mild cam (valve covers were from a different engine) rebuilt th350 that still shifts nicely (can absolutely annihilate a dry bald Michelin tire) . The rear differential was swapped out of a z28 car to obtain the performance gear ratio for this vintage of camaro. The diff was cleaned painted and installed. this axle does make a slight pinion bearing growl but you cant hear it over the 80s rock that emits from the speakers at all times. tires are some bald michelins on a set of newer s10 wheels with factory caps. I just went through the entire a/c system and swapped in a new sandin aluminum compressor to free up some mileage and horsepower while the a/c is being used. i also replaced all of the hoses at this time and resealed everything. the a/c has proven reliable and works great. steering and suspension feel very tight and sporty. very fun car to drive! Inside it is mostly original with plenty of head room to fully bang your head when Metallica comes on without personal injury or fear of hitting your head on a useless air bag steering wheel (i can not guarantee that you wont hurt your self, could throw out your neck or back if get too into it, take it slow). Most of the interior plastics have taken a beating from the arizona sun over the years but are available on ebay for reasonable prices. All of the instruments work and all of the lighting/wiring works. It has a set of autometer gauges tastefully mounted and an autometer mini tach above the column. speedometor calibration is off from the z28 axle swap but thats a simple plastic gear swap at the transmission with one bolt. The factory cruise control works! Yes this could be a great road trip car for any metal cover band groupie! it has an aftermarket stereo with 2 rear speakers that only play heavy metal. i have driven this car some as a daily driver and enjoyed every min of it. with a cosmetic refresh and some interior work it would look as good as it runs and drives. the tires are not the best so I would not recommend driving it any long distances without new tires(i left you some to burn off before a new set of shoes). This would be an incredible first car for a youngster or for a great back yard restoration project that you can drive now and enjoy while you fix it up. Along with the z28 rear differential it does have a z28 spoiler, z28 steering wheel and i believe the tail lights and rear panel are z28 items but im not positive. Over all the body is in excellent shape other than the paint that has lost its battle with the Arizona sun and a few dings here and there that can be expected of a un restored classic. One shallow dent on the front of the hood from some one dancing to AC/DC at a desert party i think but no pictures to prove it. Only rust I know of is the little bit inside the truck but rest of body is very solid. Clean arizona title ready to go. Beware, people with large hair flock to this car and want to be your friends. Will be sold as is, i didnt even wash it.
