1957 Chevrolet Corvette Fuelie Offered as a buy-it-now. Make us an offer!

This exceptional example was professionally restored from the ground up here in Indianapolis for a local collector who fancied early fuel injected cars. The car was then passed onto his son who has kept the car stored in a climate controlled environment, and really not driven it much in order to preserve its excellent condition- although the car does run and drive, and all the fluids are freshly changed. The car is listed in Noland Adams "Complete Corvette Restoration and Technical Guide", and while everything appears correct, we cannot guarantee the car started life as a Fuelie-we do not have a build sheet or window sticker. The car is sold as is where is with no guarantees or warrantees whatsoever.
The car has both tops, although the soft top canvas has not been installed, and it is missing its spare tire. Finished in Venitian Red, one of the most desirable color combinations, this is a rare opportunity to acquire a show quality car that hasn't been shown.

The first generation Corvette was introduced late in the 1953 model year. Originally designed as a show car for the 1953 Motorama display at the New York Auto Show, it generated enough interest to induce GM to make a production version to sell to the public. First production was on June 30, 1953. This generation was often referred to as the "solid-axle" models (the independent rear suspension was not introduced until the second generation)] 300 hand-built polo white Corvette convertibles were produced for the 1953 model year. The 1954 model year vehicles could be ordered in Pennant Blue, Sportsman Red and Black, or Polo White. 3,640 were built, and sold slowly. The 1955 model offered a 265 cu in V8 engine as an option. With a large inventory of unsold 1954 models, GM limited production to 700 for 1955. With the V8, 0-60 mph time improved to 8.5 seconds. In 1956 Chevrolet introduced the Transistorized "Hybrid" (vacuum tubes and transistors) Car Radio option. A new body was introduced for the 1956 model featuring a new "face" and side coves; the taillamp fins were also gone.
An optional fuel injection system was made available in the middle of the 1957 model year. It was one of the first mass-produced engines in history to reach 1 hp per cubic inch and Chevrolet's advertising agency used a "one hp per cubic inch" slogan for advertising the 283 hp/283 cu in Small-Block engine. Other options included power windows (1956), hydraulically operated power convertible top (1956), heavy duty brakes and suspension (1957), and four speed manual transmission (late 1957). Delco Radio transistorized signal-seeking "hybrid" car radio, which used both vacuum tubes and transistors in its radio's circuitry (1956 option). Our Ebay Policies:
Significant Cars is one of the largest Collector Car Brokers and Dealers in the Country. Since 2003 we have worked hard to "change the way collector cars find new homes" by providing unparralleled web presentation of the cars we are representing. Most of our cars have over 30 photographs, and these can be viewed by visiting our website (our eBay handle dot com), or by clicking on any of the photographs in the black background area of our EBay listings. We welcome your call with any questions about any of our listings at anytime at 800-837-9902 and certainly encourage your personal inspection of any of the cars we are selling-just call us and we will be happy to set up an appointment for your to see and test drive the car.
We realize that eBay is a difficult venue to properly evaluate an item as complex as an automobile. You can feel secure bidding with confidence on any of our cars since we guarantee your satisfaction! Should you win the auction and come to see the car and decide you do not want it for any reason, no negative feedback will result, any deposit you may have paid will be cheerfully refunded.
