1961 GMC 4000 COE Cabover Chevrolet

NO RESERVE!

These old cabovers are getting harder and harder to find, so here is your chance to grab one that is prettyunique.

This is a 1961 GMC 4000. I picked this up from a farm in northwest Kansas. It was used, until the last year or so, as a harvest truck. The farmer removed the dump bed and mounted it on a newer truck, and I was lucky enough to purchase it.

The pictures tell most of the story on this one. This came from a very dry part of the state, but it does have a couple of rust spots. On the lower front part of fenders, under drip ledge above windshield, and a couple very small spots on floor. This truck is overall VERY solid, with those few spots the exception. I'm not a big fan of the word patina, but this one is different. It's got a look that would be pretty hard to duplicate. Would be a great candidate to just clean up a little and clear coat.

This is arunning and driving truck. It has the 305 V6 GMC engine, it looks similar to a 348 or 409 if you have never been around one. It runs well, but is a little cold blooded, and like to run on partial choke. Previous owner had added an electric fuel pump, which works fine. I added a different ignition wire because sometimes you would have to wiggle the ignition switch to keep it running. The brakes work pretty well, and stop just fine. Transmission shifts like it should. It has a 2 speed rear diff, and I'm sure it works, but the cable is froze up in the high side. Tires are old and worn, but hold are just fine and are still useable.

This would make a perfect wedge hauler, or even a rollback. There is plenty of room under the cab, unlike the earlier cabovers, to repower it if you so decide. Although the 305 runs well, it would be pretty cool with a hopped up 12 valve cummins, dragging your car to the racetrack. Anyway, I guess if your checking it out you have your own ideas for it!

Please let me know if you have any questions or need any more info. My name is Cort 620-786-5172 and you can call or text. I try very hard to maintain 100% feedback, so bid with confidence. And I'm ok with truck sitting here awhile to arrange shipping or pick-up, as long as its paid for on time. Thank you and Good luck!
