1986 Chevrolet Camaro IROC Z28 Additional Info:

1986 Camaro IROC-Z
I purchased this IROC with the intent of restoration in 2012. Unfortunately my schedule has not permitted me to follow through, and, I located a 1985 IROC ready for the road. My understanding is this car was transferred among one families members over the years. It was then purchased by a muscle car collector who also had the intent of a low cost restoration soon before my purchase from him. This is an excellent base for a daily driver or reasonable restoration project.
Cosmetics:
From what I can tell, the vehicle was refinished once and all labeling was reinstalled correctly. The prior owner also kept up with any rust bubbles by painting with a spray bomb to prevent further spreading. Thus, there are several spots of different shaded white on the vehicle. The good news is the only rust I can find is about the size of a quarter on the inner lip of the right rear quarter panel to the rear of the wheel. It does appear the vehicle may have encountered a very light impact previously. While there is nothing apparent on the body, I noted a repair to the core support behind the right headlight. The original IROC rims are in very nice condition and have not been "curbed". While the original gray cloth seats are in very good condition, the vehicle is in need of a headliner and carpet due to t-top seal leakage and wear over time. The headliner has been removed. Replacements are available for both the headliner and carpet on line for a very reasonable cost. The dash does show some normal cracking, predominantly on the driver side near the speaker grill.
Mechanically:
When I bought the vehicle, I personally drove it from NH to NJ, approximately 280 miles, without incident. Mechanically, the vehicle is very sound. The 305 V8 performs great, although it is in need of a good tune up from sitting the past couple years and only being moved short distances. The 700R4 transmission shifts very nicely as well. No signs of any slippage. To get to the point of a daily driver it will need tires, brakes, new drive belts and fluid changes. While it is equipped with A/C, it does not cool and will need an R134 conversion if you wish to utilize. The power steering is currently missing the secondary belt. While the power steering works well, the lack of the second belt creates squealing when turning tightly at a low speed ie: parking. During the drive back, I confirmed the cruise control is operational. The exhaust is also in very good shape. The original AM / FM Cassette equalizer stereo is installed, but, not connected. I have not confirmed it's operation or functionality. No speakers are currently in the vehicle as the prior owner had an aftermarket system installed which did not require any modifications to the original set up.
This is an almost fully loaded IROC with the following equipment:
305V8
4 speed automatic transmission (700R4)
Power brakes
Power steering
Power windows
Power door locks
Power rear hatch release
Cruise control
Intermittent wipers
Air Conditioning
T-Tops with storage bag
Rear window defogger
Tilt steering wheel
Rear compartment cargo cover (does not retract and not certain if it can be repaired)
AM / FM Cassette with equalizer
Gray custom cloth interior
The vehicle is currently garage stored in NJ. The vehicle can also be transported back to NH if more convenient for the purchaser as I also have a home there.
