1953 Chevrolet Bel Air/150/210 210 Additional Info:
With a heavy heart I am listing my 1953 Chevy 210 coupe for sale. I have owned this vehicle for 5 years and put a lot of work into it. It is not a show car, and does need some items to be completed, but it is very fun to drive as is and gets a lot of attention and compliments. At the time of purchase this was one of the cleanest 53/54's I could find that hadn't been restored (only one small area of cancer).
It has a 1986 Jaguar XJ6 front end, giving it 4 piston disc brakes up front and power steering. 10-bolt GM rear end (drum brakes, not sure of gear ratio). Front is factory jag suspension with one coil cut. It rides a little harsh. Rear suspension is TCI complete suspension package with 3" lowering blocks added. To power the disc brakes, a power booster was added under the floor (kit from speedway). The car stops, but it could use residual valves added to the brake system. Since lowering the car the master now sits below the calipers. Rear tires are 255/60r15 fronts are 195/65r15 almost brand new.
Under the hood is a 4 bolt chevy 350 with a stroker kit installed. Crank, rods, pistons, bearings, etc. The only thing factory is the block and main caps. ARP bolts for the main caps and the rod ends. Lunati Voodoo 10120703 camshaft, Summit vortec heads cast by World Industries. HEI distributor, Holley 750 Double Pumper. With the pistons and the 67cc heads it is right at 10.3-10.5:1 compression ratio. Backed by a rebuilt th-350 transmission with a higher stall torque converter (I cannot recall the exact stall it was around 2500-2800). Lokar shifter. This boat scoots pretty good. Less than 8k miles on the rebuild!
The seats have been recovered with new foam burlap etc, white vinyl. I have not had a chance to get the door panels done, but the pre-cut cardboard is included. Dark blue carpeting installed. No headliner. Blue seat belts come with the car, not installed. Grant steering wheel with aftermarket steering column. Previous owner installed the wiring kit and some gauges for oil temp and fuel gauge. Headlights, tail lights, turn signals all working. The original tail lights were replaced with 54 lights.
The front windshield and rear window gaskets have been replaced. Included with the car are the door seals and the trunk seal. Also included is the window felt kit.
It was painted last summer with Eastwood paints. Originally it was going to be satin black with the base coat clear coat metallic blue for the roof and scallops. In my opinion it didn't look right. So we cleared the whole car. I was happy with the results and had it pinstriped by a local guy. There is silver leaf on the hood and trunk. The paint and body work are not perfect, there are scratches, dings, some drips, and a couple bubbles (nothing major). A good wet sand and buff would really do this car some good.
All in all this is a bad ass car that gets a lot of attention and is really fun to drive. I don't drive it enough and have more vehicles than I know what to do with.
I have a video of it running as well as additional photos of the paint flaws. Let me know if you need anything specifically. d_thomas87@ymail.com
