Starting in 1960, Chevrolet introduced a new series of light pick-up truck. GM made a number of changes to the design of the 3000 series truck in an effort to lure some car drivers into the pick up truck realm. For starters new frames had a drop-center ladder which allowed the cab to sit much lower to the ground. Also added was an independent front suspension that gave the Chevy’s a feel that was much closer to a truck. Back in the 1960’s the new design work was a huge step up from previous generation, and these days, the only challenge is finding a really nice quality truck.
Finished in Cardinal Red over a Harvest Gold interior, this 1962 Chevy K10 is the recipient of a painstakingly accurate, frame off restoration that took over two years and left no screw, nut or bolt untouched. Prior to restoration, it was a lifelong, rust free California vehicle. The interior exhibits the correct colors with the proper factory finishes. The gauges have been completely restored, as were the heater components. Even the seat frame was blasted down to bare metal, resprung and covered with the correct original material. All of the controls from the pedals to the shift lever have been stripped and refinished in the proper tones. The bed in constructed with the correct pine and linseed oil finish just as they came from the factory.
The body was media blasted down to bare metal and exhibited zero signs of rust. The chassis was also blasted down to bare metal and was refinished in the correct chassis black. All of the suspension components have been rebuilt including the correct spiral shocks. All of the glass is new, and all of the rubber trim is new as well.
The 283 Trademaster M code engine is original to the truck as is the transmission. The entire drivetrain has been rebuilt from front to rear and is detailed to the nines. We’ve never seen a more correct engine compartment on an early K10.
