1990 Chevrolet Camaro Iroc-Z Convertible 2-Door Additional Info:
Get one of these rare convertibles before the summer arrives and prices go up.The IROC-Z wasbuilt for less then 5 years. IROC-Z is a specialequipment package car with unique badging that was licensed by theInternational Race Of Champions to GM forsponsorship rights. Contrary to thepopularbelief among many of todays youth. Not all 3rd generation camaros are IROC-Z's. The IROC-Z was licensed to GM from 1985 til Dec 31st 1989 (1990 model year) at which time GM lost thelicense to the IROClabel. Therefore the 1990model year was cutshort for all IROC-Z's and GM began producing 1991 cars. The IROC-Z convertible is one of the rarest of all Camaros made during the 4.5 year run from 1985 to 1990. There were about 10k IROC-Zconvertibles made total for all 4.4 years. There were 1244 IROC-Z convertibles built in 1990. ALL were 5.0 motors (absolutely none were 5.7). It is believed that roughly 65% of them were automatic transmissions and about 25% werebright rally red. It is not acertainty butmathematics indicate there wereprobably less than 400 of the cars that you are looking at now, and possibly less than 300.
This car is almost all original. I am the 4th owner as far as I can tell. The caroriginally was bought in either CA or FL and is a CA emissions car. Then it went to a collector inWisconsin who dressed it up a but with smoked tail lights and painted intake etc and showed it at shows for a while. Thecarthen went to afamily in Minnesota who told me they almost never drove it and stored it indoors at all times. (and it shows thatway). Ibought it from that couple anddrove it 2200 miles to CA. It drove like a dream. No problems, no squeaks or rattles. Front endalignment is dead on point. All the interior features work perfectly. The seats are clean and notwornlike most of these cars. 80% of these cars have worn out drivers seat side bolsters. The carpet is nice but shows its age. The canvas top is probably not theoriginal but its better then the original and fitsperfectly. The motor startsimmediately every time and the transmission is strong. All the lights and electronics work as the should. Thepaint istooriginal. It its clear that this car has beenpainted at least once because they messed up and painted over the door tags. But the paint is very good ( not perfect).
Now for what I can tell you is less then perfect. You've heard of 20 footers? Meaning the car looks good at 20 feet but not so good closer than that? I would describe this car as a 5 footer. The paintlooks great but if you put your nose right into it you will see some chips and flaws. Its not asuper fast powerful car. It goes good but its not going to blow you away with power. If you're in CA you will need to install a new Catconverter. Itactually passes smog emissions test but the Cat is missing (becauseits residedinto midwest) and needs a Cat installed (About $500). You do NOT need toreplace thewhole exhaust as it isquite new and very goodquality. Just need to install a CA compliant Cat if you are in CA.
You arewelcome to contact me with more questions. If I can tellyou something that would discourage you from buying it then that's OK. Idon't need to sell it and I want you to know 100% whatyou're buying.
