Here is a truly great example of a 1962 Impala SS409 Convertible that has a 1963 upgraded 409 425 h.p dual quad upgraded 5 speed TKO 600. It is simply outstanding.
Some people say these wheels are ugly so I will give $1500 off the final price to buy a set of Torque Trust !! or what ever you want. Tires are like new as every thing is on this car.
Wow this is rare 1962 Chevrolet Impala SS 409 4 Speed Originally equipped. Now this car was treated to an extensive restoration that took years of care and time by Chevy 409 experts. I am going to list a bunch of stuff if you have questions please ask. I have lots of photos to help you make a decision on this outstanding car.
By the way those are true knock of wheels 16 and 17's which are easy to change if you don't like the look.
Got lots of photos to help you. But car is super nice been in 2 Hot Rod magazines.
The car had a complete frame off restoration. It was completed in 2004.
The car is painted with the same Roman Red color it left the factory with.
The red interior color is also factory correct.
The engine is a 1963 425 hp 409. It had been freshly rebuilt when we got it and it’s pretty much stock except that it now has a hydraulic cam rather than the factory solid lifter cam. The cam specs are very similar to the factory cam.
The transmission is a Tremec TKO 600. It’s a five speed and 5th gear is an overdrive rated at 600 ft lbs of torque.
The rear end is a new 12 bolt built by DTS. It has 4:11 gears and Mark Williams axles.
The 4:11 gears and overdrive transmission work very well together. If I remember right, it’ll cruise at about 2,000 rpm at 65 mph.
The driveshaft has been upgraded to a 1350 series. (1350 series driveline is usually found in one ton trucks and race cars)
The entire drivetrain is virtually unbreakable.
The suspension has been upgraded with polyester bushings, front and rear sway bars, and the rear control arms have been boxed in.
The frame has also been re-enforced at the upper control arm fastening point. It was a weak spot on 62 Impalas, in 63 the factory added some bracing at the attachment point.
The front brakes were converted to discs. (if I remember right, the rotors and pads are the same as a 70 Chevelle)
Power steering has also been added. It’s a #605 steering box which was also used on Chevelles of the late 60’s and early seventies.
