EXTREMELY RARE 1972 CST CHEYENNE BLAZER WITH THE VERY RARE HIGHLANDER INTERIOR PACKAGE THAT WAS ONLY OFFERED IN 1972. THIS IS "THE ONE" TO HAVE IF YOU WANT THE ULTIMATE FIRST GENERATION K5 BLAZER!
We just picked up this amazing 1972 K5 Blazer that had been in storage for many years. We were told it has been in the same family since it was purchased new and that the top has never been off. We were also told that it was used as a hunting vehicle, so it saw very little use. There is still a set of gun racks in the back and the NRA stickers on the back glass. The odometer reads 46,478, which we can’t confirm to be original, but it very likely could be due to the condition. The pedals are like new and the Park detent is very stiff. This is a very original, un molested truck.
This Blazer is very unique! Not only for the Dark Olive color, which you do not see that often, but also with the Highlander package with the incredible Avocado plaid interior. It is also a CST Cheyenne, which included the wood trim (exterior and interior), bucket seats, full carpet, chrome bumpers and handles, wheel covers, chrome pedal trim, etc. From the service parts identification sticker in the glove box, you can also see it was heavily optioned.
*There has been some debate online about this being a CST Blazer due to the lack of tilt, AC, etc. In 1972 there were several changes on how these vehicleswere ordered and how the packages were offered. You can see that here1972 BLAZER OPTIONSIf you look at the emblem on the glovebox and the several of the options below that were only availableif the CST option was ordered, like the Fiberglass Top and the Highlander Interior, there is no question this is CST model.

In addition to all of the factory options, the owner had purchased several Dealer options, like the rare Feathered Aluminum slotted wheels and the spare tire rack with a Jerry can mount. It also has a heavy-duty tow hitch and vintage mud flaps.
The interior is very nice for the age. The Highlander plaid seats are so cool! The seats had seat covers on them that and cleaned up nice, with the exception of the driver’s seat, which was likely the only one that saw any use. It would need to be recovered. The carpet and dash are also very nice. All of the gauges look bright and clean and all work as they should. The radio, the 12 band equalizer and CB also function.
The exterior is very nice and is fine as a driver. The paint shines bright and the chrome is in great shape. Although still in the factory Dark Olive paint, it does appear to have been a respray at some point. Unlike most of these blazers, the rockers, quarters and other problematic areas are rust free. Even the inner wheel wells are nice. There are some rust areas, as you can see - both door skins, a spot on the passenger lower quarter and the cargo area has some rust by each outer side.
Mechanically it is very good. It starts without having to touch the pedal, it idles smooth and it drives great. The transmission shifts very strong and the park detent on the gear selector is still very tight, which makes us feel that the mileage is accurate. We did a tune up - plugs, cap, rotor and upgraded it to an electronic ignition.
